Grant Purpose
Thisgoalofthisgrantproposalistoacquirefundstopurchaseequipmenttosupportcomputerscience
coursesatthehighschool.Currently,theonlycomputersciencecourseofferedisinmobilegame
development.Studentsapplycomputerscienceprinciplestodesign,build,test,anddistributemobile
applicationsandgames.Byprovidingstudentswithanactualmobiledevicetotesttheirgameson,theyare
abletomoreaccuratelymimicarealdevelopmentenvironment.

Use
Studentsinthecomputersciencecoursewillusethetabletstotesttheirapplicationsduringthedevelopment
process.Havingaccesstoatabletcomputergivesthestudentsuniquefeedbackduringthedesignand
buildingphasesofsoftwaredevelopmentandallowsstudentstoapplyproblemsolvingskillstoimprovetheir
applications.Computerprogrammersfrequentlyhaveaccesstomultipledevicestotesttheirsoftwareon
beforereleasingittothegeneralpublic,andprovidingstudentswiththesedeviceswillallowthemtodothe
same.
CTIT&L5.0:Studentswilloperateandusecomputersandothertechnologiesastoolsforproductivity,
problemsolvingandlearningacrossthecontentareas.

ThetabletsareacontentspecifictoolandtheycontaintheAndroidoperatingsystem,whichthestudentsare
developingthemobileapplicationsfor.Theyallowthestudentstoidentifypotentialproblemswiththeir
applicationsandsolvethembyrevisingtheirprograms.Lastly,thetabletswillallowpeerreviewand
assessmentastheyuseoneanothersfinishedapplicationsonthetablets.

Studentswillhavetheopportunitytofullyinteractwiththesoftwaredevelopmentlifecyclebyusingthetablets
asrealtestingdevices.Theywillbeabletotroubleshootproblemsthattheywerepreviouslyunabletowiththe
emulator.Onceanysoftwareglitchesandbugshavebeensolved,theycandeploythesoftwaretothetablets
forfinalinstallation.

seethattheyhavetheabilitytolearnhowtomakemobileapplicationsthatreallywork,theywillbemore
interestedintakingthecourse,whichservesasagatewaytoacareerincomputerscience.
