Glittering Gold Seahorses

GMO or Genetically Modified Organism is organism whose genetic material has been
manipulated by scientist in laboratory as a result of genetic engineering. Genetically Modified
Organism is gene fusion that made by scientist using technology. They cant be found in nature,
because they were made in lab, unless the scientist unleashed them to the nature. There are many
kind of Genetically Modified Organism, some of them are animals and some of them are plants.
One of Genetically Modified Organism example in animal is glittering gold seahorses. This
Genetically Modified Organism can solve financial problems. (nongmoproject)
108 striped seahorses glitter like gold was founded in Hanoi. This genetic modification
was firstly done in Vietnam. These are the first Genetic Engineering animals that were made in
Vietnam. Phan Kim Ngoc and his colleagues at Viet Nam National Universitys College of
Science, in HCM City, founded this Genetically Modified Organism of seahorses. The gene that
use in this genetic modification is the light - emitting gene of jellyfish. This genetic modification
with seahorses produces glittering gold seahorses. This seahorse was born using gene - shooting
method. A tiny grain of gold was combined with a light - emitting gene that extracted from
jellyfish, then that tiny grains of gold was injected to egg cells of seahorses. Ngoc, the head of

animal physiology said, "The jellyfish genes that mixed with the gold was fused into the cells of
the seahorses; when they came into life, they will be glittered." (vietnamnews) (trendhunter)
According to Vietnamnews, Ngoc and his colleagues have more than 20 failures on this
experiment; they have been developing on this experiment for three years. They already tried
using techniques such as micro - injection for the experiment, but it was a failures. "The egg
cells membranes are harder and tougher, because the egg cells live in the water. We decided to
use gene - shooting techniques; because it generated a force that is strong enough to bring the
light - emitting gene into the egg cells, based on the experiments that have been presented around
the world," said Ngoc, the leader of the first studies in gene therapy in 2002. After all animals
the scientist had been used for the experiment, it was the seahorses that they got their streaks.
Professor Pham Thanh Ho, a leading bio - technology scientist said, This accomplishment will
can be use as medicine. The good genes could replace with peoples negative genes using this
technique. This technique can make cows produce more milk, thinner pigs. The rare genes of
rare species can also be domain using this technique."

Ngoc added, "Gene - transferring

technology can also be used to heal deadly diseases." he said he would now apply the technique
to treating diabetes. (vietnamnews)
Many people like gold, but who doesnt like their gold to be moving. The benefits of this
Genetically Modified Organism are the seahorses become prettier and more valuable, but the
price of those seahorses will be expensive. According to Enkivillage, these glittering gold
seahorses are sold; you can buy it, if you really want to. For gold lovers, some of them maybe
buy these glittering gold seahorses. Less than two weeks, that seahorse is almost the size of a
matchstick; but as the seahorse grew old, the seahorses become more valuable. These seahorses
are cost their weight in gold. So if you buy a glittering gold seahorse, buy the one that is still

little, because its lighter, if its lighter, that mean its cheaper. Then all you need to do is wait
until it grows big; when its big, it will be more valuable and expensive. (enkivillage)
