Practicum Lesson Plan #2


1. The students will read a Benchmark Reading Text with appropriate
accuracy (90-94%), fluency (at least level 1), and comprehension (at
least Satisfactory) on a D level text or higher.
Strand: Reading Literature
Box Sub Heading: Key Ideas and Details
Standard: RL.1.2 Retell stories, including key details, and
demonstrate understanding of their central message or lesson
Strand: Reading Foundational Skills
Box Sub Heading: Fluency
Standard: RF.1.4 Read with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support
comprehension
2. The students will correctly spell words from the Primary Spelling
Inventory scoring at least at the Early Letter-Name Alphabetic Stage.
Strand: Language
Box Sub Heading: Conventions of Standard English
Standard: L.1.2 Demonstrate command of the conventions of
Standard English capitalization, punctuation, and spelling when writing.
L.1.2e Spell untaught words phonetically, drawing on phonemic
awareness and spelling conventions
3. The students will create an All About Me Poster that includes
pictures and labels of 3 favorite books; pictures and labels of 5 favorite
items; name, picture, and 3 words/phrases to describe themselves; a
picture and sentence that answers 2 questions.
Strand: Writing
Box Sub Heading: Production and Distribution
Standard: W.1.6 With guidance and support from adults, use a variety
of digital tools to produce and publish writing, including in collaboration
with peers.

The Plan:
1. Anticipatory Set
a. Show the students what their All About Me Poster looks like all
typed up
2. Share Learning Goals
Place learning goals in front of students
Read through each learning goal and discuss what we will
be doing today
3. Benchmark Reading test
Today each of you will be reading a book to the teacher
After reading the book tell the teacher about it
4. Listen to books on the iPad
When other student is working with the teacher student
will use the iPad to listen to a book.

The teacher will give students words and students will spell
them the best they can
6. All About Me Poster
Students will pick out pictures on the computer that they
