Period

Note :
1st Period
DI going on by TP--there was some q/a/d during this
TP used the teacher technology to present the DI
TP brought good energy to the classroom today. He uses his personality and sense of humor to get the students to buy in
to what is going on in the classroom.
I found the blowing of the streamers to be extremely annoying. Do you think that is just me or that it may be distracting
to some of your students? I did not catch anyone looking at them as often as I did so it may not be an issue.
I would urge you to find ways to be intentional to get to the back of the classroom so that you can see the screens of
your students' computers to help make sure they are actually on task and doing what you ask.

Note :
Students were taking notes from DI-some students were using pens and paper and some were using their laptops
There was a decent amount of back and forth during the DI
Students that were taking notes on their laptop appeared to be using EverNote to take the notes---good organizational
skill
Student use of technology, including personal device to look up information, including a graphic on "triangular trade"
On two different occasions during the DI TP instructed students to go out into Google and find something---this seemed
to work seamlessly into the flow of the lesson.
7.

Rigorous and Supportive Atmosphere

Yes

Note :
References to previous learning not only from this class but from previous years
TP also make brief connections to future content and learning the students will be doing
TP scaffolded a couple of the questions today
"who can explain to me...." asked by TP and upon a student respond "man, that was good" followed by a high five.
"I really want you to get this...." said by TP
I appreciate the "summarize" slide at the end as it was a good way to tie things up.
