Started to describe the shapes features e.g. curved, 4 sides, 3 corners.

representations of two-dimensional shapes, including
circles, triangles, squares, and rectangles, using
everyday language.

use words to describe them
Ss tell the person next to them the 4 shapes and
something about that shape
- Put hand up and say a shape and a word to describe it

corresponding shape

Activity:

Then write a sentence

T Step 1: pick a shape to make
Step 2: pick something to make it with and make it
Step 3: write a sentence about it
Do this with as many shapes as you can

Extension for early finishers
- Write similarities and differences about the shapes
- E.g. a square is similar to a rectangle because it has 4
straight sides. A square is different to a rectangle
because its sides are all the same. A rectangle has
two long sides and two short sides.
