preparing to fight the Pacific war. By 1943, there were 250,000 Americans stationed in Melbourne, Sydney
and Brisbane. This episode is about the American troops leaving Australia.

On the home front, women dealt with the consequences of war managing children and family
responsibilities alone, shortages of resources, as well as their fears for the future, and the grief and trauma of
losing loved ones.
But most women wanted to help with war effort.
