My reflective report

Trip to Kumaon Himalayas 2014-15

Finally the day had arrived for which i was waiting. We started our
journey at 7:36pm. I imagined a clean train and that we would enjoy the
journey and at night we would play games and have a night out but it
wasnt possible. We boarded the train from the wrong way. So we had a lot
of chaos. But after a while we came up with a solution. I learned solving
my problems on my own.
After a tiring journey of 36 hours, I got exposed to the real India ` the
second class sleeper coach. At 5am we reached katgodam station.
Getting away from my warm town, I couldnt adapt myself to the cold
stimuli around me and eventually ended up wearing jacket which I
probably did not do in my town.
After reaching the katgodam station we all boarded the bus and finally
after a long journey of adjustments, compromises, fights, fun, etc. We
reached Nainital. We all had finished our journey happily satisfying our
teachers and our selves.
We refreshed and served ourselves a delicious breakfast and then
departed for enhancing our knowledge in geography i.e. to the department
of geology. After the lecture finished, my friends were shocked to see that
I was interested in geography and I also realized that geography could be
much more fun than I had initially thought.
After coming back to the hotel, enjoying the lunch and some rest we
proceeded for shopping. Bargaining was not an easy task. But at last we
are SNKians. We did it and this made our shopping more interesting. Time
was running out but then too we enjoyed boating and then ran up to the
Ghodastand where our cars were waiting for us.
At last we had our dinner. Playing on bed and a high volume on TV we
were enjoying the night. How can we waste our 7 hours, just sleeping
during the night!

Next morning, fighting for the bath in freezing cold water, We all were
ready within an hour and had our breakfast and started a new adventure
track to Tiffin top. I love mountains and adventure and therefore I was
very excited to reach the top as fast as I could. Many of them had given up
and quite a few of them were tired but sirs annoying looks made me reach
the destiny and not knowing about my passions and capabilities, I was the
2nd one to reach the top. Reaching the top at 10:30 the first thing that I did
was just eating the delicious, instant 2 minutes maggi. We rested there for
about 30 minutes and we all again disintegrated in groups and started our
way to hotel, and this time too i was among the 1st ones to reach the hotel.
After this track i looked upon myself and realized that my capabilities are
enough for me to make any task possible.
On the completion of this adventurous track the delicious lunch was ready
for us and it seemed that the food was calling us and so we dashed
towards the restaurant.
We completed our food, rested for some time and then departed for
boating in Naukuchiyatal lake where I really bothered and teased my
friends by jumping around in the boat. we lost most of our time in
travelling and it would be better if we had small safaris then that big
buses. The time passed, sun started setting and the coolness in the
environment took its place, therefore we were taken back to the hotel
where we had the dinner accompanied by melodious songs sung by
Sarvashreshtha sir and Jaydeep sir. The day for me ended by thoughts
running around in my mind about the newly learnt boating task which then
made me sleep.
The new day arose again with those never forgettable bathroom fights
which now makes me think that without those fights the trip would be
incomplete. Finally we sorted out our problems and by 8:00am we all were
ready for the yummy breakfast. Sitting on the chair with delicious
breakfast, the thoughts running in my mind made me realize that I lost my
laziness and started speeding up with my work plus learnt to adjust with
others.
Afterthe breakfast, all leaders took the initiative to lead the track towards
Himalaya darshan. On the way, I saw a running water tap and as my
responsibility I turned off the tap, saving water which I never did in my
own city. Walking in my dream world I slowly reached the Himalaya

darshan where in front of me was the great Himalaya range. Sitting in the
view of ice caped Himalaya with a handful of maggi, I was lost in the
beauty of nature.
Finally, it was the time to say good bye to the nature and rush towards the
hotel. It was a great experience for me to search the way towards the
hotel without any teacher. Once I also lost the way but eventually reached
hotel with my battery low! I experienced the terrible faces of my friends
on the way when they followed me on the wrong path and therefore they
had to walk much more then they thought!
We had a visit to the ARIES space observatory. On the way to ARIES, I
was blank about this topic but after coming back I found
lotsofinformation.I found the place much more exciting then I thought.
Coming back to the hotel, some of them also went for shoping and I was a
part of it. Reaching the place ,we found it too cold and shopping was
impossible in that cold night and so we had to cancel the program and
went Ghodastand jogging. In that cold night I was able to run much more
then I used to run in my warm town. So I think that sun's heat is my
weakness.
(27 november)Next day morning at 9 am we left from nainital. At 12pm we
reached ranikhet. This place was named a king Sudhardev who won the
heart of his queen Padmini and used to reside there. For me it was a
romantic and calm place to visit.
After enjoying 4.1 star hotel we had to have our lunch in a small
restaurant in Ranikhet but we managed there. I learnt one thing about my
self that then i am hungry, taste and conditions don't matter for me.
Then we started travelling in a bus towards Corbet national park. I had
never experienced travelling in a simple sitting bus for nearly 5 hours but
while listening to the songs and the beautiful trees surrounding me even
this was possible. Then I had realized that nature can save me from
boredom.
We reached Corbet at 7pm (tired). After having the dinner we just went
asleep. And next day morning we went to corbet museum. There we saw
the ship of sir Edmund Hillary ,the first person to climb Mt.Everest .and
some species like tiger, cubs, panther, panthress, wild cat, hog deer ,
elephant baby. That museum was a jar of knowledge for me.
After the luncheon with my friends, we went to the river behind our resort
and we started our adventure to cross the river. first it seemed easy to us
but the challenge was the chilling water and the big pabbles surfaced by
the slimy algae but i being adventure lover, completed the task with my

group the one and only to cross most of the river. The crossing of river
was a real fun and first experience of my life.
We came back to resort at 5 pm. next day we went for national park in
safari.I found two animals over there. They were sambhar deer and
spotted deer. It was unfortunate for us that we didn't got an opportunity to
see the tigers but fortunately we saw it's fresh footprints.we went
national park much late and missed the opportunity to see the tigers and
so I learned that time management is must.
It was our last enjoyment for the trip and then we started our journey for
returning rajkot.
On reaching Muradabad in train ,we had to change a train and it was found
that the train was 5 hours late!! It was midnight and the the train was
going to come at 2 but it came at 7!! That means that we had to spent our
7 hours in waiting room!! The waiting room was complete mess with rats
running all around And thereby making our adrenaline glands active.
At last the train came. I had learned to live in that harsh condition. finally
the trin journey was over and the buses were waiting for us. To make our
last part of the journey more exciting , teachers took us to HFM and then
finally our trip ended with memories. I learned many things how to live my
life. How to face problems that arrive suddenly in life and much more.It
was an enjoying and self learning experience for me !!
