What do the learners already know, do and value?


Students have prior knowledge about nutrition. They have been working on a major assessment task and have
knowledge about the following:
The Australian Guide to Healthy Eating
The recommended serves for adolescents.
Contemporary nutritional issues
They are able to:
Calculate their BMI and RDI
Convert kilojoules to calories
Where do learners need and want to be?
This lesson will help with students understanding of the nutritional values of snack foods they eat. And understanding
the different components of food and nutrition that will further help them with their major assignment
How do learners best learn?
In teacher allocated groups.
Curriculum Outcomes and Essential Learnings:
ACPPS092 : Propose, practice and evaluate responses in situations where external influences may impact on their
ability to make healthy and safe choices
Lesson Outcomes:

Students will be able to (know cognitive processes AND do demonstrate):.

students will be able to determine the nutrition information within the snacks they eat. Students will identify the different parts of
the labels as well as compare different snacks to determine which is better base on nutrition value.

All students have filled out the checklist/worksheet given to them.

The nutritional label on Snack wrappers of popular snacks eaten by students ranging in nutritional value
(healthy snacks junk food snack) print out onto A4 paper. Placing one at each station.
Check list for each student to fill out as they make their way through all the stations
