Waxahachie Global High School develops the talents of students and fosters a desire to pursue higher
education. It immerses the students in a smaller, less conventional learning community designed to
maximize a students talent through the integration of academics with technology and engineering in a
hands-on, real world environment.
Since opening its doors in the 2007-2008 school year, Global has implemented a STEM (Science,
Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) curriculum. Students are required to take four years of the
core subjects, English, Social Studies, Mathematics and Science, and 2 years of both Engineering and
Technology classes. This curriculum helps prepare students to be 21st Century problem-solvers and
critical thinkers. The Global High motto is We believe in success!
In 2009-2010 school year, Global HS became an Early College High School. This designation gives Global
students the opportunity to earn college credits as early as their freshmen year of high school. An early
college high school is designed so that a student can earn both a high school diploma and an Associates
Degree or up to two years of credit towards a Bachelors Degree at no charge to the student or their
family. Early college high school students have the potential to improve high school graduation rates
and better prepare students for high-skill careers by engaging all students in a rigorous, college
preparatory curriculum and compressing the number of years to a college degree.
Starting their freshmen year in high school, students have the opportunity to earn 11 college credits for
their PE, Orientation and Computer Science classes. When the student passes the college entrance
exam, or the TSI test, they are eligible to take additional college courses. Typically, 75% of Global High
Schools seniors graduate with their Associates Degree from Navarro College. The STEM courses are
taught by the faculty of a 4 year university, the University of Texas at Tyler, making Global students
some of the youngest university students in the nation.
The faculty and administration of Global High School believes that students, when given the proper
chance, will embrace learning as a life-long pursuit and become productive citizens of the local and
global communities through communication and collaboration.
