1) BJP candidate Bhojraj Naag trounced his lone opponent Rupdhar Pudo from

Ambedkarite Party of India in the by-election by a margin of over 50,000 votes.


While Naag got 63,616 votes, 13,506 voters opted for NOTA (none of the above).
Pudo was in third position with 12,086 votes in the contest, which had just two
candidates. Coming into existence in 2008 after the delimitation process, Antagarh
(ST) seat was won twice in a row by BJP's former forest minister Vikram Usendi.
However, Manturam Pawar(INC ) withdrew his nomination before the last day of
withdrawal of nominations on August 29 following which he was expelled from the
party.
A voter turnout of 58.73 percent was recorded in the Antagarh assembly seat by-polls
which were held on September 13.
2) Centre gives nod for National Tribal University
The Central government approved the proposal of Chhattisgarh government during a
meeting of state's Chief Minister Raman Singh and Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani
on Monday in New Delhi," a state government spokesperson said on Tuesday.
"The consent was given to commence the functioning of the university from the next
academic
session,"
he
said.
During the meeting, Singh said that the university will greatly benefit the people of
tribal-dominated Bastar in preservation of culture, traditional and natural resources,
besides from the education point of view, he said.
3) Chhattisgarh government has decided to establish the first Geothermal

Power Plant of the country in the newly formed Balrampur district of the
state.
A memorandum of understanding in this connection was signed between National
Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and Chhattisgarh Renewable Energy
Development Agency (CREDA).
State government has granted permission for the installation of a Geothermal

Power Plant at Tattapani area of the Balrampur district to the NTPC.


NTPC has already started exploratory and preparatory work in this area. It has

also started talks with ONGC and other international organisations for drilling
operation.
In India, studies for locating this renewable energy source were undertaken by

the Geological Survey of India over the last three decades after which around 340
hot springs were traced.
The Tattapani geothermal field is the most promising geothermal resource in
central India.

Singh,

office

2012.

Prior to appointment as Chief Justice, Justice Yatindra Singh was posted at the Allahabad
High Court. He was born in 1952 and had graduated from Allahabad University in 1970.
He had also served as Additional Advocate-General of Uttar Pradesh Between March
1997 and February 1999.He had two books written under his name entitled 'Cyberlaws'
and 'A Lawyer's World and Childhood dreams'.
