Equipment Used: 15 basketballs. One computer.


One projector. Basketball training videos.
Recording sheets with necessary questions.

NASPE Standard(s): 1-6


ISTE Standards: 1a. 1c. 2a.
Specific Objective: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to know how to
shoot basketball by watching video and practicing. Students will be able/start to
find their own way(s) of shooting basketball by analyzing data from practice.
Concomitant Objective: All students will stay physically active out door while
working in groups.

(Recording sheet can be prepared by instructors
before class.)
-Each students have three opportunities to shoot
basketball. After he/she used all three opportunities,
he/she will change position with the another
students in the group.
(If there is more time and students are capable to
record more sets of data, each student will have
more opportunities of shooting basketballs.)
Safety Protocols:
1) Stay in your shooting field only
2) Be cautious of your teammate while shooting
basketball
3) Only one student per group can shoot
basketball in the field, another student need to
stand on the edge of the field and record data.
After one student in the group finishes
shooting three times, he/she will change
position with the teammate and start to record
data.
4) When you finished recording data, put pencil
and recording sheet on the ground and
change position with your teammate.

Classroom reflections:
Taking students back to classroom and recording
students shooting records into computer using
Microsoft Excel software. Posting students data on
the projector and asking for students who
successfully shoot basketball in the loop to share
experience and strategy if they raise their hands.
Students starts to share their tips of how to shoot
basketball successfully. Recording tips on the black
board and start group discussions to find out the
best way of shooting basketball. And each student
in the group will come up with their own strategy of
shooting basketball.
Lesson Review/Checking for Understanding:
-Ask students how to shoot basketball. Is there any
strategy change after they gathered and analyzed
data and sharing information together?

Notes: Instructor should have better view to monitor all students in class
during activity.
Instructor should join each group to observe students activity and
provide advice and confidence.
Each student should join the activity unless some special
conditions. (doctor note, etc) Students with special conditions can choose
to observe other students and find out their strategies.
Any student who doesnt follow safety rules will be warned
immediately. If same student violate safety rules twice, he will stay with
instructor and observe other students playing for 5 minutes. Third mistakes
for same student will not join the class activity until he fully learned and
followed safety rules.
Instructor will collect students data sheet while students are cooling
down and relaxing. There is no the best player in the class. Instructors will
ask for students who successfully shoot basketball in the loop to share
experience and strategy if they raise their hands. If not, instructor can talk
about his/her own experience to inspire students to come up with their own
strategy of shooting basketball.
