AN ACT Relating to: The allocation of $450.00 (Four-hundred fifty dollars) from the Student
Events Pool (6272-0200-03) for the event called CISPES/PCASC El Salvador Pacific Rimming
Protest, to be held on 1 March 2010.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE ASWSUV SENATE:

Sec. 1. Speaker Fee $350.00


Sec. 2. Coffee/Pastries $100.00

STATEMENT OF FACT: Advertisements will read “Co-sponsored by ASWSUV” in 14-point


font or font equal to the average size lettering on the advertisement, for all advertising for
the event(s) as required by ASWSUV By-Laws (260.12). All advertisements shall be
approved by the Public Relations Director prior to distribution (260.13).
This event is designed to promote awareness on the WSU Vancouver campus of the harmful mining
practices in El Salvador. Due to continuing protests against CAFTA (Central American Free Trade
Agreement) held by indigenous people in El Salvador, this issue has brought national attention. This
event will be provided by Social Environmental Justice Club, and there will be a guest speaker presenting
the importance of sharing this political conflict. The speaker will also explain how CAFTA has benefited
the northern part of Central America, but has destroyed the southern region. In addition, free coffee and
pastries will be provided during the lecture.
