Responsibility Teacher 2

The teacher will ask

students if they brushed
their teeth this morning.
The teacher will then have
one student explain the
steps they took when they
brushed their teeth.

Teacher 2 will pretend to

be confused and ask
questions such as:

The teacher will explain that it

is important to understand the
order of things that happen in
a story so that we can
understand the story better.
The teacher will then explain
to students that authors often
use sequence words to help us
understand the sequence of
events in a story. The teacher
will put four students in a line

The teacher will walk around

the room and observe how
students are responding to
the lesson content.

What would happen if

you switched the order in
which you brushed your
teeth? What would
happen if you brushed
your teeth without
putting the toothpaste on
it first? Would it make
sense?

and model using sequence

words by explaining which
student is first, second, third,
and last. The teacher will then
chart these sequence words.
Then the teacher will tell
students that there are other
sequence words that can help
determine sequence as well. I
will add these to the chart
(next, after, finally, then).

Station Teaching

Station 1:
The teacher will go over
sequencing words with
students such as first, next,
then, after that, second, last,
etc.
The teacher will have students
imagine its a snowy day and
they are going outside to play.
The teacher will ask them
what they have to do to get
ready to go outside.
They will then be given
sentences based on how they
would get ready to go outside
on a snowy day.

Station 2:
Students will work with
Teacher 1 to sequence
pictures from the book.
Students will be each given a
dinner plate with four
sections labeled first, next,
then, and last. They will also
be given pictures from the
book.
They will then paste the
picture that nonresponses
with the correct sequence
word.

Then they will put sentences

in order based on the
sequencing words that they
identify. They will glue the
sentence onto a worksheet.

Tier by Challenge:

Tier by Challenge:

Station 1 (Tier 1): Students

will review sequencing words
such as first, next, then, and
last. Then they will put
sentences in order based on
the sequencing words that
they identify. They will glue
the sentence onto a worksheet.

Station 2 (Tier 2): Students

will sequence the events in
the book There Was An Old
Lady Who Swallowed Some
Leaves by Lucinda Colandro.
Students will identify what
parts of the story come first,
next, then, and last using a
dinner plate with one of

those words in each section

of the plate.
CLOSURE:

The teacher will ask

students if they can
explain how to put
their shoes on.

The teacher will ask the

students Would it make
sense to put on your shoe and
then put on your sock?

The teacher will guide

students to understand
that it would not make
sense to get ready that
way and that the order
matters.

The teacher will help teacher

1 guide students to
understand that it would not
make sense and that the order
you put on your shoes
matters just as it matters
when reading a book.

Teacher 1 will assess students

based on the worksheet they
have completed on sequencing
as well as observations.

Teacher 2 will assess

students based on their
complete dinner plate.
Students are expected to
sequence four pictures from
