System Design and Component Selection:

KES can design and select the most suitable components that fit specific client
requirements according to the international standards and KES staff very deep
experience in integrated solutions design and development. At the end of this stage
a rich technical offer will be submitted to the client for acceptance and approval.

Site Surveys and Final Design

Site survey(s) are required to investigate, gather and verify the necessary information
and documents in order to settle the final design and bill of materials. At the end of
this stage final design documents will be issued with the detailed configuration and
engineering schedule.

Project Management

Control system project management services provide the client with a single
individual to plan, monitor, control and report on the status of all hardware and
services included in this proposal. A single point of contact in KES for all client/
licenser questions or concern from the receipt of client order through the design,
engineering and implementation when necessary pertinent information on the
following topics:
Technical and commercial issues
Engineering status
KES action items including the dates
Project schedule status
Testing issues
KES will allow clients/licensers representatives to enter the KES works during
normal business hours to review the system at various stages of design and
assembly. These reviews will be conducted along with KES representatives, without
interference to assembly works. Design review meetings will take place regularly and
periodically, beginning with the kick-off meeting and ending with factory acceptance
test. Clients/KES personnel will jointly review the system design and installation.

Local Engineering

Hardware Assembly: Overall assembly of the proposed controller system and

HMI system into system cabinets including terminal blocks, cabinet, power
supply termination, communication termination.
Control Configuration: The detail implementation of data acquisition and other
required algorithms within the Control and HMI System.
HMI Configuration: The overall configuration of the Human System Interface
Station, including tag list definition and database development.
Graphics Generation: Overall graphics generation of the Human System
Interface Station. Among the graphics that will be developed are the Display
Navigation System, Specific graphics for operation, group displays and trends.

Factory Acceptance Test (FAT)

The purpose of the client-witnessed test is to demonstrate to the client engineers

that the system fulfills the requirements of the standard system product and system
functional specifications for the expansion part.
The demonstration will be held at KES facilities in Sulaimaniyah-Iraq, after the
internal test completed, includes the following test program that will be carried out
according to a functional test report issued by KES and approved by client.
Visual inspection.
Dimensional check.
Supply check.
Redundancy test if exists.
Loop function test.
Sequence and interlocks test.
Peripheral test.
Power failure Auto restart.
Database and I/O card continuity (point to point) demonstration.
Software configuration check.
Various display tests.
It is desirable to initially run the tests from the beginning to the end and thereby
define all deficiencies, if any, KES will then initiate correction. Appropriate test will
then be re-run to demonstrate that the deficiencies have been completely removed.
The client engineers will be asked to sign a factory acceptance certificate up on
successful completion of FAT. Then the system will be disconnected, cleaned,
packed and made ready for shipment or transportation to site.
Any changes or modifications required by the client during the test will be subjected

Installation: Specific installation supervision services includes:
Carry out a pre-delivery site inspection to ensure that the areas in which the systems
are to be installed are properly prepared.
Off-loading of equipment at the site or immediate reception area.
Inspect equipment for shipping damage and check actual quantity against shipping
documents.
Handling and placement of the equipment.
Unpack and check individual modules and sub modules for type and quantity against
the configuration documentation and packing lists.
Insert system power modules in accordance with power requirements.

and configuration requirements.
Adjust settings for primary and back-up selections on I/O interface modules.
Check installation of all system bus, peripheral and module cables.
Check the earthing system provided/built by client.
Prepare and submit a detailed report of work done and list any discrepancies or faults
found and corrective action taken.
System Power Up and SAT:
System power up will be done by a qualified KES representative to ensure that once properly
installed, all standard hardware and software meet the quoted specifications. The System
Specialist will supervise the following:
Verify that supply power and power to individual modules meets voltage and frequency
requirements.
Power up the individual system modules and units, verifying that appropriate lamps and
indicators function properly.
Perform stand-alone diagnostic tests to ascertain that the hardware modules operate
properly and in accordance with the specifications.
Install standard operating system software and verify operation is in accordance with
the system specifications.
Run standard interactive diagnostic tests to verify operation of system communications.
Explain the use and functions of the system log book.
Submit a detailed report that includes a description of the specific tests performed,
indicates any discrepancies found as a result of the tests, and explain any corrective
action taken or recommended.
Commissioning and Start Up:
This is an engineering service to tune and test all functions of the installed process control and
plant automation system and to verify that the system meets its application specifications.
Commissioning of a system for which KES has contracted application responsibility includes
verification that the system meets the functional design specification acceptance criteria,
mutually agreed between client/licenser and KES. Commissioning is conducted by well
trained, skilled KES engineers who are thoroughly familiar with the system. Commissioning
involves preparation of test report which documents test results, loop tuning parameters
and other commissioned data.

KES provide its clients with different types of training courses and for both operator
and engineering levels. These courses will build the knowledge, skills, and experience
of the end users until they are fully capable of using and controlling the system and
all the provided tools to operate and monitor the plant efficiently. Troubleshooting
and maintaining the control system components as well as understanding the
operation, engineering, and customization philosophy will be among the other
important things to be taught to the end user. For more comfort KES is providing the
training courses at three different locations as shown below:
Site Training: These courses are attended at site and mainly concentrate on
system operation issues for operators and engineers such as:
Hardware diagnoses, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair.
SCADA, HMI, BMS operator course that includes monitoring, commanding, and
navigation.

KES Training:
These courses are attended at KES HQ in Iraq-Sulaimaniyah, and cover all the
system operation and engineering issues at the engineering level. This course will
