The Limbo

By Elliot Benner and Millie

Campbell

Genre
The genre of the film will primarily be a thriller
with sub genres of action and drama.
A thriller is a story that invokes extreme emotion in
the viewer such as heightened fear, tension,
anticipation, surprise and more.
An action is a film which focuses on exciting the
viewer, usually being quite fast paced and suspenseful.
A drama is a narrative which tends to present an often
exaggerated story in a very serious manor, invoking
sorrow, anxiety and tension in the viewer.

How will our film correspond with

these genres?
We aim to have our opening generate
a sense of fear, suspense and
excitement through its fast paced
chase scene and anticipation through
the series of wide angle landscape
shots. We will attempt through our
camera techniques, visuals and sound
to have the viewer see from the
characters point of view and make
them keen to see what happens next.

Synopsis
Our opening is centred around a young man
being chased early in the morning, having run
through the night to desperately escape those
chasing him. The men chasing him are armed
and pose a lethal threat to him. They shoot
him down and as he lies dying in the mud of a
field he believes its the end, only to discover
his curse in which he re awakens as his 8 year
old self with his memories intact (this is what
the plot of the entire film would be based on).

Target audience and appeal

The films story has a fragmented structure in
which scenes and plots no matter their
chronological order are put together to help
explain the complicated plot, because of this
and the sometimes graphic scenes the film
would be more suited to a mature age range.
We wish the film to appeal to young adults
ranging from 16 to 25 and believe the appeal
of the opening will come from its cliff hanger
ending, atmospheric scenery and exciting
chase scene.

Inspiration
My main influences have come from
thriller films with original plots and
film making styles including No
Country For old Men, The Babadook,
Edge Of Tomorrow and Repeaters.
