Battle Chart

In Social Studies 11 you are responsible for understanding Canadas role in

WWI and how it affected Canada. The major offensives you need to be able
to describe and discriminate between include:
Second Battle of Ypres, Somme, Vimy Ridge, Passchendaele, and the
Hundred Day Campaign
In order to help you with this you will need to make a chart that distinguishes
between the battles in terms of their timing, purpose and consequences.
Essential categories on your chart include:
Date and location
The purpose (goal) of the battle
Victors - Central Powers or Allies
The main strategies employed in the battle
Defining characteristics of the battle
Notable Canadians involvement in the offensive
Loss of lives
Most importantly, take note of how the offensive contributed to the
development of Canadian autonomy

****You may also include any other relevant categories in addition to those
listed above.

The resources you have available to you are your lecture notes, the textbook,
insights from videos and any reading selections.
