DiMento and Doughman believe that human activities that have been occurring
over the past century are the main variable in the change of earths climate. Earths
climate is a complex system with numerous variables to account for in research.
Researches must take into account physical, chemical, and biological inputs to every
study performed. This makes it difficult for scientist to measure and project how humans
may alter the climate for the future. Despite the publics doubt as well as difficult subject
matter researchers have found that the evidence points to the fact that climate change is
real and a serious threat to earth.

https://books.google.com/books?isbn=0199777543
This book provides information necessary to support a course in Deaf culture. As
people change, so does the study of people. The Deaf culture is continually changing.
Technology has increased to improve everyones lifestyle and it is no different for deaf
people. Legislation has tried to keep up as well, and attempt to make sure that
discrimination is a thing of the past.
It is not uncommon for people to focus on what is missing when thinking of Deaf
culture. It is interesting to learn that most Deaf people are proud to be Deaf. This book
offers the opportunity to look into the Deaf culture and see the positive not the negative.
Culture can be defined as a system of shared beliefs, values, behaviors and the Deaf
culture is shaped so that members of this culture cannot just survive but thrive.
Technological advancements have helped level the playing field for people in the deaf
community.
The Deaf community communicates, as a rule, with the use of American Sign
Language (ASL). The Deaf community normally consists of not only the hearing
impaired but their hearing family as well since most Deaf people are born to hearing
parents. Because of this, they turn to the Deaf community for information. Deaf people
are bilingual as they need to learn their home language as well as ASL. The ability to
communicate helps us all with our independence.
Special Education in Contemporary Society: An Introduction to Exceptionality
https://books.google.com/books?isbn=1483321657
This book states that differences are what make us all unique and interesting
human beings. This book gives a description of how people with disabilities fit in our
society. Some differences are visually noticeable and others are not. We can have
differences in our skin color, eye color, and height; and these differences are visually
noticeable. Some of our other differences such as political affiliation, religious
preference, and even our individual ability to learn are not so easily discernible.
This book addresses that while we all want to be considered normal, there are
instances where labels are required to help even the playing field. One of these instances
is where learning is concerned. By identifying these differences, educators are able to
help close the gap. This book describes how much change the profession of Special
Education has undergone in the last decade. It also mentions that it needs to be noticed
that we should not focus on just the differences, but also the similarities.
It is important to focus on the person first not the disability. This is a major
change from the past. It used to be the autistic child and now it is the child with
autism. This book provides information regarding laws that affect special education. It
also provides techniques used for assessing needs and strategies that should be used. This
book provides insight and information that is invaluable to the educator so that he can
stay up-to-date with teaching in the special education arena.
