What did you accomplish? Be specific.

We worked on our vocals first and made sure we assigned parts and
sang strong and clear. Then we incorporated harmony into the final note
and split up into 3 parts. We ended up only singing 2-part in our
performance because we felt stronger when we sang only in 2. Lastly, we
broke up our song into parts and choreographed it. Then we reviewed
all the choreography, perfected the vocals, and put it all together to be
successful.
How did you know you were ready to perform?
We knew we were ready to perform when we memorized all the
choreography and could go through the whole number without any
mistakes when we were singing at the same time. When we were
completely confident with everything we decided that was the best time
to present.
What were the challenges you faced in meeting your goal?
When we worked on the harmony towards the end of the song, we had a
hard time finding and holding on to our notes while the other two of us
were hitting different notes. We sang an Ab major chord, but then we
had to shrink it down to just Ab and C at the end because we could not
split us up into 3 parts successfully.
What skills, concepts, and vocabulary did you apply in working towards
your performance?

We applied harmony, blocking, focus, choreography, and tempo into our

performance because we stayed focused all the time and broke up our
vocals and choreography into sections in order for us to master it. We
used the tempo of the song for a lot of our dance moves and we tried to
stay together and sing in harmony for the majority of the number
(except for solos and our harmony at the end of the number).
What elements of this experience are transferrable to the real world?
Being a good performer and using public speaking to be in front of
others and make a good presentation. It is important to be comfortable
on the stage, and get out out of your comfort zone to try something new.
Also, if singing/dancing is something you like to do, you can apply those
skills and practice more on your talent.
What is your timeline to become performance-ready?
First we went over vocals and memorized lyrics, then we started working
on the choreography once the vocals were sturdy and we felt confident
with all of the lyrics. While choreographing our number we split it into
parts and just talked through the lyrics, then we put the vocals and
dance together and ran through the production a bunch of times. Lastly
we tried to incorporate harmony and fixed the parts of the number that
needed work. We presented after that after about 2-3 weeks of practice
(which isnt that long because of the A-B day schedule).

After your performance:

The standard descriptions are at the left. For each
standard, self-assess YOUR individual progress and
achievements (4, 3, 2, 1), and give an explanation for
each score.

Cr2.1.8.a
Select, organize, and document musical ideas for
arrangements, songs, and compositions within

4
I thought of a lot of the choreography

expanded forms that demonstrate tension and

release, unity and variety, balance, and convey
expressive intent.

and went back and organized the

number and cleaned up everything. Our
group was really unified and our voices
balanced each other out. We did try to
add harmony and challenge ourselves
vocally.

Cr2.1.8.b
Use standard and/or iconic notation and/or audio/
video recording to document personal rhythmic
phrases, melodic phrases, and harmonic
sequences.

Cr3.1.8.b
Describe the rationale for refining works by
explaining the choices, based on evaluation
criteria.

3
We made a lot of good decisions
and refined our final product
multiple times. We tried to do
harmony but it did not really work
out during the presentation so that
is something we could have done
better.

Cr 3.2.8
Present the final version of their documented
composition, song, or arrangement, using
craftsmanship and originality to demonstrate the
application of compositional techniques for
creating unity and variety, tension and release,
and balance to convey expressive intent.

3
I think we did a pretty good job on
our presentation and our dance
moves were very in sync. I did not
look up and did not use much
expression towards the audience
so that is one thing I think I can
improve on.

Pr 4.2.8.c
Identity how cultural and historical context inform
performances and result in different musical
effects.

4
I think we incorporated the context
from the movie Cinderella into
our performance because we used
formal dance moves and we tried
to paint the picture of us riding
horses and dancing right in front of
the carriage.

We did listen to the audio recording to

get a sense of the rhythm, tempo, and
melody of Impossible, but then once
we sang it a capella we lost some of the
tempo and the melodic phrases. We also
only incorporated harmony into one of
the notes in the song and we could have
brought in more.

Pr. 5.1.8
Identify and apply personally-developed criteria
(such as demonstrating correct interpretation of
notation, technical skill of performers, originality,
emotional impact, variety, and interest) to
rehearse, refine, and determine when the music is
ready to perform.

3
I think I used my own musical
talents and brought in a lot of vocal
strength towards the performance.
I did not bring forth a lot of
expression and emotion in my
performance which I could have
done better on. During rehearsals I
stayed on track and tried to take
leadership with the dances and
harmony on the piano.

Pr. 6.1.8.a
Perform the music with technical accuracy, stylistic
expression, and culturally authentic practices in
music to convey the creators intent.

3
I think we did sing with accuracy,
vocal strength, and in tune
together for the majority of the
song. We sang without a lot of
dynamics and expression in our
voices and we could have projected
our voices a little more so I think
that could have drawn the
audience in a little more.

Pr. 6.1.8.b
Demonstrate performance decorum (such as
stage presence, attire, and behavior) and
audience etiquette appropriate for venue, purpose,
context, and style.

2
I did have proper stage etiquette
and style in my performance, but I
could have been a lot more
animated and had more
emotion/expression in my face and
voice. This was unlike how I usually
perform because I had a lot on my
mind that day and I no I could have
done better. The next performance
I do I will make sure to improve.

Re. 9.1.8
Apply appropriate personally-developed criteria to
evaluate musical works or performances.

2
I did evaluate myself on my
performance and I know what I can
improve on next time. As I have
stated above, I could have had
more expression and emotion in
my voice and facials, and overall it

was not one of my best

performances.
Cn 10.1.8
Demonstrate how interests, knowledge, and skills
relate to personal choices and intent when
creating, performing, and responding to music.

4
I think all three of us applied our
musical interests into our
performances and our voices
blended really well together. We all
contributed equally and used our
knowledge about singing and
theater to come up with ideas for
our performance.
