Notes on PBX

The emm service and other services of netbackup require a common service called PBX.
Like vnetd, pbx limit the number of TCP/IP ports that the CORBA services of netbackup
use. PBX is installed before of as part of netbackup installation at /opt/VRTSpbx.
To check the version of PBX
# /opt/VRTSpbx/bin/pbxcfg v
PBX must set correctly. There are two vital settings for the correct function of PBX. Auth
user and Secure mode. Auth user must be root and secure mode should be false. When
PBX is installed, these settings are configured by default. If these settings are not
configured as required, it can be set using pbxcfg command.
If Secure mode is set to True, netbackup commands like bplable and vmoprcmd
would not work. The setting can be changed to false using the following command.
# /opt/VRTSpbx/bin/pbxcfg d -m
To Display the current PBX settings
# /opt/VRTSpbx/bin/pbxcfg p
PBX uses unified logging and it is written to /opt/VRTSpbx/log and the originator
number of PBX is 103.
