Welcome to Beat
Board! This is an
interactive toy
designed to help your
child practice their
motor skills while
enjoying music and
engaging in physical
activity. The game and
should only be used
with adult supervision.

Suggestions
2-3 year olds:
1. Play a single note 2-5 in a
row and have the player
hop 2-5 times alternating
the foot used to produce the
sounds.
2. Play 2-3 notes in a row and
have the player repeat the
combination by stepping on
the pads.

Instructions
1. Remove your beat board from the box
and place it on a flat surface.
2. Connect the orange USB cord to your
personal computer.
3. Go to the following website:
http://www.makeymakey.com/piano
4. Test out the 5 keys as displayed on the
website to produce piano sounds.
5. Place the adjustable metal band over the
players wrist before they step on the
board. This is necessary for conduction to
occur.
6. Have the player familiarize themselves
with the board by stepping on the pads to
learn the sound that each makes. Make
sure that kids only use one foot per pad to
produce the sounds.

7. Have the player listen to a combination


of notes, produced by the moderator, and
have them try to mimic the sound
combination by pressing down on the
appropriate pad(s) with their feet. Refer
to our suggestions for your childs age
group for examples of combinations.
8. If the child successfully mimics the
combination, add positive reinforcers
after the completion of the combination
(i.e. Woohoo!, Great job!, etc.
9. If the child does not successfully mimic
the combination, replay the combination
until the child successfully completes it.
10. If your child shows signs of frustration,
try a more simple combination.
11. Have fun!

3-4 year olds:


1. Play two notes
simultaneously 2-8 times in
a row and have the player
hop on the pads to replicate
the sounds.
2. Play several notes in a
sequence and have the
player walk from pad to
pad on their toes to
replicate the sequence.
5-6 year olds:
1. Play a either a single note
or two notes
simultaneously 2-10 times
in a row and have the
player hop to replicate the
sounds.
2. Play several notes in a
sequence and have the
player hop from pad to pad
with one foot to create the
sequence of notes.
