Overview:
AllspeciesoflifeonEarthreactwiththeelementsintheirenvironments.Somespeciesadaptto
procreate,someadapttolimitedfoodsources,andothersadaptinwaysnotyetexploredby
modernscientists.Ourjobashumansandasmusiciansisalsotointeractwithourenvironment
anditsmanyelements.

Objective:
Learnhowdifferentspeciesofbirdsinteractwithotherspeciesandoftheirownspecieshow
theyinteractwiththeirenvironmentsandhowtheirenvironmentsshapetheiractionsaswellas
theirbeautifulcalls.AttheendofthedaystudentswillbetterunderstandtheScientificMethod
andhowtheycanuseitinothercontextsthatinterestthem.

interactwithonadailybasis.Byobservingbirdsintheirnaturalhabitatalongsidebirdswho
haveexperiencedadisturbance(theexperimentinthiscase)studentswillrecognizejusthow
everypieceoftheenvironmentworkstogetherandhowonelittlethingcanchangehowanimals
behave.Connectingthelessonstaughtintheirscienceclasswithmusicclass,studentswilllearn
howtousewhattheyknowaboutscienceandapplyittobroaderconcepts(Inthiscase,how
musicianreacttochangesinemotions,changesinenvironment,gettinggood/badnews,etc.).

Studentswillleavewiththeideathattheycanbecitizenscientistsandconductexperimentson
theirownitdoesntjusthavetobeaboutsciencetopics.Learningtothinkinabroadercontext
andapplythescientificmethodtoanyexperimentthatstudentswanttolearnaboutisgreatly
usefulinhelpingstudentsmotivatethemselves.
