quarter view).

face
*I will apply my knowledge and skills from the previous lessons of still lives, contour,

Instructions:

Art Foundations Periods 1, 2, & 3

*Students enter the classroom and sit in their assigned seat
*After classroom announcements, students will wait for instruction on who the
model will be for the day (models change every day and students receive points for
modeling)
*Since periods 1, 2, and 3 are smaller, there are two options for models. If there is a
2-D Design student that is almost finished with their piece or is finished with their
piece, then they will be chosen to model. If there are no 2-D Design students
available for modeling, a student name from that Art Foundations class will be
drawn randomly.
*Once the model is chosen, he/she will sit on top of a desk against the far right wall
of the classroom. The model will face the opposite wall and is expected to remain as
still as possible for the students drawing.
*After the model is situated, the students will gather around the model by moving
their desks and chairs (Each student should have a different angle).
*After the students are situated, they must begin drawing the models face,
including the hair and the neck. Along with observational drawing, they are also
expected to use the pencil method in order to measure accurately.
*The students will have 54 minutes to draw as much of the models face, hair, and
neck as possible. Once a student is finished measuring the face, he/she will work on
the shading.
*After 54 minutes of class, students will have 5 minutes to cleanup. The students
will write their name and date on the back of their drawing; these drawings must be
placed in the students art lockers. The students will move the chairs and desks
back to their original areas.
*Lastly, students will sit in their assigned seats until they are dismissed.
Art Foundations Periods 5 &6
*Students enter the classroom and sit in their assigned seat
*After classroom announcements, students will wait for instruction on who the
model will be for the day (models change every day and students receive points for
modeling)
*Along with periods 1, 2, and 3, period 5 will also have only one model. Since period
6 has the most students, there will be two models. For both periods 5 and 6, the
models will be selected at random from the art foundations classes.

*Once the model(s) is/are chosen, he/she will sit on top of a desk against the far
right wall of the classroom. The model will face the opposite wall and is expected to
remain as still as possible for the students drawing.
*After the model(s) is/are situated, the students will gather around the model(s) by
moving their desks and chairs (Each student should have a different angle).
Assessment:
*At the end of the first week, students will turn in two of their drawings from that
week (drawings they believe are their best). After the second week, students will
turn in two of their drawings from that week and the week before (drawings they
believe are their best).
*For week one, the two drawings will be worth 100 points together. For week two,
the two drawing will be worth 200 points together (100 points for each drawing).
Formative Assessment Drawing the face of a new model each day for
approximately 10 days
Summative Assessment Collecting 2 of the students best work after each week
Closure:
By the end of this lesson, students will know how to draw the human face, along
with the hair and neck, from different angles, including the front, side, and three
quarter views. Students will also know how to use the pencil method in order to
measure the human face and its features as detailed as possible. Lastly, the
students will apply their knowledge and skills from this lesson and previous lessons
in future lessons.
