During this time I have had the opportunity to teach music and marching drill to various
sections in the band as directed by the Head Band Director. Through a collaboration of all
instrumental instructors, we were able to provide direct student-teacher instruction, allowing all
students to benefit individually as well as in small groups.

I substitute in Byron, Corunna, Durand, and Owosso to gain more experience while I
continue looking for a permanent position. I primary teach music to continue gaining experience
however I have also taught other content areas when needed. I work closely with the teachers to
keep an easy transition when they are on leave.

Long Term Substitute Teacher

During this three - month substitute teacher position, I was responsible for teaching
grades K-5 general music, as well as 5th grade beginning band. Throughout this period, I taught
and directed a 1st and 2nd grade spring concert as well as prepared the band students to play their

instruments for their 5th grade graduation celebration. I had all of my lesson plans reviewed and
approved by the principal of the elementary school prior to taking over the class.

As part of my student teaching, I participated in an internship at Sherman Lake YMCA.

During this time I interacted with students in grades 4-6th and practiced creating procedures that
can be used in the classroom. Classroom management skills and teambuilding skills were also
practiced at this time.
