Description of Activities and Setting

I will begin the lesson by asking the students if they know what season of the year we
are currently. Then I will ask them what makes them think that we are in the season they
answered with. We then will go over the four seasons and make sure that they
understand them along with them coming up with examples of what happens to the
environment in each of those seasons.
Students will be given a piece of construction paper divided into four parts. In each part
they are to draw a tree on a hill along with the branches. The four tables will each be
given objects that go with their season and will have to make one of the trees appear to
be in that season. For example in Winter there will be no leaves on the tree, but they can
draw snow on the branches and ground along with whatever else relates to the season.
Students will then get in groups by their table and explain to their classmates why they
drew what for each of the given seasons by sharing their trees with their peers. Then I
will allow three students to share their work with the entire class and explain why they
drew what they did for each of the seasons.
Ask the students open-ended questions about each of the seasons to make sure that they
have a complete understanding of the topic.
Through the tree projects that were made I will be able to see that each student
comprehended what was learned through the lesson. Students will be given a worksheet
with the seasons already drawn out and will need to circle the correct season with the
correct color. For example all the pictures relating to Fall weather would be circled in
red. The worksheet will have 10 pictures and student must get 7 out of 10 in order to
show a proficient amount of understanding.
