Elliptical sentences

Ellipsis

means leaving something out.


Elliptical sentences is a shorter form of
sentence which some words have been
omitted, but it retains the same meaning.
It is used so that we can avoid
unnecessary repeated words.

Example:

A: Where are you going?


B: to school.
A: Ready?
B: Yes, I am.

SO,

TOO, EITHER, NEITHER


So/too is used for positive sentence
Ex:
John is happy, so am I.
Toni speaks english well, Rica does too.
Rina studied english yesterday, so did Rini.
I have visited Bali, she has too.

Either/neither

is used for negative

sentence
Ex:
John isnt happy, neither am I.
Toni didnt study yesterday, neither did Rini.
Jhon isnt writing a letter, I am not either.
She wasnt late yesterday, neither was Doni.
