MDD 6: REFLECTION AND SELF EVALUATION

MDD Standard

The teacher candidate identifies the main things learned in this practicum
and ways in which this learning has informed their professional development
needs, reflecting on the meaning, values, and purposes that will orient his or
her professional life.

4.1 Reflect on the main things you have learned about teaching and how
these relate to your understanding of the profession and the values that
guide your work.
- I have learned that teaching is not an easy profession and it takes
a lot of time and effort to create a good lesson plan and apply it in
a professional way. Also, it is difficult to create a good learning
environment, but after making a good environment it is easier to
apply your lesson. You do not teach only a specific subject, you also
teach values to students and it is as important as what we are
seeing in class.
4.2 Describe one or two areas of professional growth (e.g. instructional
strategies, content knowledge).
- One area in which I think I grew as a future teacher is confidence.
It was difficult to think standing in front of 25 students and
teaching them different things. I could not imagine doing that until
I finally did it. It was very nice to notice that at least some of the
students paid attention of what I was saying, and also imagining
that it could help in their futures. Also, another area I could
develop was the way I deliver instructions. At first it was
complicated because I put so much effort in trying to give them
perfect instructions, but then I notice that I what I had to do was to
make instructions simple and deliver them in different ways so
everyone could understand.
