Reflection 2: ( Natural selection)

This lesson is the first lesson in the unit 3 interactions among living things. The overall aim of the lesson is
define and explain the natural selection and adaptation. The stages of the lesson build student's knowledge.
Also, each stage was effective because I started my lesson by watching students video about chameleon
changing color then ask them a question how can color change helps the organisms. First, I let them to think
individual then discuss with the partner after that discuss with their partner. I gave them an instructions before
let do this activity that when I said number one means think individual then number two with your partner and
when I said number 3 start discuss with your group and when I said stop means all eyes on me. So, I like this
activity and its useful with grade six because that helps students to increase their knowledge , share ideas with
their students and improve their skills. After this stage, they discover the definition of natural selection and
they had able to give me more examples about that . In the second activity, they were working as a group to
make poster, they match organisms with their right habitat and how they adapt with these environments. I use
different materials such as poster, flash cards of animals and habitats, crayons and glue. So, this activity keep
the students interested and each one in the group takes a specific role to done activity.
The most difficult part of the lesson was time management, the lesson takes a long time to finish and I could
not do the last part with them.
If I taught this lesson again, I would do differently in poster activity that give each group different poster to do
it.
