Grade 4B

Topic: how do solid behave

Lesson #2 in a series of
3.3 lessons

Brief Lesson Description: The lesson is taking about how the solids, liquids and gases behave.
That teach the students how the particle moving in the solid.
Performance Expectation(s):
Specific Learning Outcomes: The students will learning about how solid behave
by showing them the some materials, such as pencil, table, chair and books.
Narrative / Background Information
Prior Student Knowledge:
2-PS1-1. Plan and conduct an investigation to describe and classify different kinds of materials by their
observable properties.

The students already know states of matter, for example solid, liquid and gases, but
today they will learning how the solid behave.

Possible Preconceptions/Misconceptions:
May some students will think the particle in the solids can moved, otherwise, they think the shape can
change like if broken the pencil, spoon.etc. it can be change.

EXPLORE: Lesson Description Materials Needed / Probing or Clarifying Questions:

Material:

1. Box.
2. Small ball.
Instruction:
The first thing the teacher will show the students box with small particle. I
will shake it little pit. Then the teacher will ask the students what did you
notice?
The students will say the particle will move but it will move slowly,
because the particle very close from each other.

Reflection:

In this lesson plan I was teaching grade 4, so this is my first time to teach grade 4 with
a new lesson. I introduce myself to the students that I am Miss Fatima, I will going to
teach you a science class. I give the students the classroom management to follow it.
The students were interactive and interesting to give them a lesson. Because the
students they were able to learn a new thing to add it to their knowledge about the
science. While I give the students the lesson they were listening to what I said for
them, because I was using a different strategies of teaching so that why the students
were participate with when I did an activity such as, solid activity so first I show the
students the materials that we need it. I give the students the structure to follow it.
Moreover I give the student an activity to draw the some materials made of solid. So I
give each group mini board and marker to draw such as, pencil, table, chair and book.
As a result the students will be able to know which materials made of solid. In the
end I evaluate the students by ask the students what you learned from the lesson
today.
