Please add specific comments about the student teachers observed strengths
during this teaching practicum and identify areas in which you feel further
development is necessary.
Observed Strengths:

Areas in which further development is needed:

Very explicit instructions. Pertinent information

was repeating over to ensure understanding of
the lesson.
Lesson was very inquiry based learning.
Students were questioning, predicting,
investigating.
The students were very enthusiastic about the
experiment. They were working cooperarively
to investigate the effect of mentos on different
liquids.

Students were conducting an experiment. The purpose

of an
inquiry activity is to find out.
Why show them the video prior to
their
own investigation.
You could have allowed them to first, hypothesize, then
conduct the investigation.
The write up process is extremely important. Ensure
student have
a hypothesis before conducting the
experiment.
Have students write their own observation about the
different chemical reaction.

You were very poised explaining chemical

reaction while walking around to assist
students with the lab write up.

Students will recognize that the cola and soft

drink are unhealthy to our body.
Students will discover with their teacher the
effectiveness of the Mentos in the cola
Students will write a message to advise the
people about the effectiveness of the cola in
our body.
Above were your learning outcomes. You did
not make
any connections between the
experiment and the
outcomes of
the lesson. Why are soft drinks unhealthy?
Those questions were never asked. Your
discussions
were more about chemical
reaction and why it occurred.

General Comments: A very good lesson on chemical reaction. The lesson was an inquiry based lesson
and we need more of
these types of lesson. The students were fully engaged into the lesson.
However, the objectives of the lesson were never
met. It is extremely important that we teach what
we intended to teach. The objectives of the lesson must be in mind throughout the
entire lesson. One
of the girls comment, My said Seven Up is healthy Your answered was, according to the video, it is not.
It
was a great opportunity for you connect the experiment with the learning objectives.
