I am Business Minded!

Our next project will focus on being an entrepreneur. What or who is an entrepreneur? An
entrepreneur is someone who runs a business in a creative and exciting way and produces
products or services that are innovative (new and creative). Famous entrepreneurs you might
know are Steve Jobs (co-founder and was the CEO of Apple Inc.), Bill Gates (chairman and
CEO of Microsoft Corporation), Walt Disney (creator of first cartoons with synchronized sounds,
full length animated film and theme park) and Mark Zuckerberg (co-founded and CEO of
Facebook). They all started with an idea and developed it to make it something a lot of us today
are using.
Now it is your turn to become an entrepreneur. Think of a product you would like to produce that
other kids your age will be interested to buy. It must be something you can see and touch. You
are going to produce no more than 6 of this product to sell on the day of your project
presentation. You have to remember that your target customers are students who save from their
allowance and so far, they were only able to save $50! In addition, there is class tax which is
$4.50 that your customers will need to pay.
But wait! Theres more. You have to make sure that when you sell your product, it must
include the use of a decimal. It has to be until the hundredths place value.
Now, think about these questions and answer them on a piece of paper that you will submit to me.
We will call this paper your Proposal.
What is the name of your business?
What is your product?
Why did you think of this product?
How are your classmates going to use this product?
What materials do you need to produce your product? List them.
How much are you selling your product for? Do you think this is a reasonable price and
why?
Illustrate how the product will look like and label its parts.
Vocabulary words we will be working on: Revenue, expense, profit, loss, cost, unit price,
quantity and total
Your presentation day is the same as the day you will be selling your product. Your presentation
must not exceed 10 minutes. Your presentation dates are as listed below:
January 5 Jenny, Isaac, Isabella
January 6 Manny, Angelica, Symiah
January 7 Asya, Josiah, Sasha,
