Thousands of animals are born and raised each year for animal testing, fighting, and
showcasing. Every single animal used for this will never have a chance to live a normal life or be
treated fairly. 1700 animals were used in 2014 for testing alone at the University of Florida
according to USDA. These animals spend most of their lives in ridiculous clothes, living in cruel
cages, and having harmful tests done to them which will make their lives shorter and more
painful. Some people think it is a good idea to use animals for testing to make more products
safer for humans to use, but is it really worth the price of shortening an animal's life? Dog
fighting and showcasing has been happening for as long as we can remember and has been
raising bigger, meaner, and smarter dogs as well as other animals that do not have a safe place to
go. Once they have outlived their use they are euthanized or die in the ring, sometimes right in
your lap. When you raise animals for fighting, showcasing, and also testing they become more of
a threat to the society and can be harmful to other animals and other humans. Dogs who are
subjected to the cruel life of dog fighting tend to generate a lot of money depending on how good
they are. There was a dog that made up to $100,000 because he was the top dog. (Stop dog
Fighting) In order breed more dogs, specifically pit bulls, the female dog is strapped down on
rape stands to prevent her from fighting with the male dog while the dog impregnates her. Dog
fights are increasing in a very negative way in the United States. Some government resources
have estimated that about 16,000 dogs are killed each year in organized dog fights and the

number is still increasing. All over the U.S. dogs are bred to just entertain the cruel minds of
others when it comes to dog fighting and will have them fight to the death anywhere whether its
at a park, backyard, empty house, and etc.
Every year more than 100 million animals are tested on and killed in U.S. laboratories for
biology lessons, medical training, curiosity-driven experimentation, and chemical, drug, food,
and cosmetics testing.(Animal Experiments: Overview) They test all kinds of animals including
mice, rats, frogs, dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, monkeys, fish, and birds. Animal
cruelty is nothing to play with. Statistics prove how bad it really is. The numbers dont lie and
thats just sick that people can have pleasure in fighting them, showcasing them, and argues that
testing them is good for the greater cause of human being not being killed or hurt do to a certain
cosmetic or whatever else theyre abusing them for.
Omaha is trying to stop animal cruelty especially the Nebraska Humane Society. The top
three things the Nebraska Humane Society wants to focus more on particularly dogs would be
Tying dogs outside (Anti-tethering), Reckless Owner(s), Dogs with unsafe behavior (potentially
dangerous behavior). When dogs are outside they cant be tied up for more than 15 minutes
outside without any sort of supervision from someone who is 19 years of age or older. The leash
has to be 5 times the length of his body weight but it cant extend to the sidewalk. In order to be
responsible pet owners they have to stop their pets from barking, clean up after them, keep their
dog license up to date, never keep them in hot cars, let them run loose, and never to abuse or
neglect your pet. Third reason is to make sure your dog is not declared potentially dangerous.
This can be prevented by not allowing your pet to harm or inure other pets, chase after people in
a public surrounding in a menacing manner, and learn to how to listen and be obedient to the
owner.

The Nebraska Humane Society doesnt agree with animal testing at all. They believe its
a harsh and cruel thing to do to innocent animals that hasnt done anything wrong. The Nebraska
Humane Society thinks any and every one can help with animal cruelty as well as animal testing.
As public people have to come together to help the lives of innocent animals and make the world
a better for them.
You can stop animal cruelty by protesting and boycotting products that test animals
before selling it to people. Animals should never be mistreated or used for peoples own selfish
entertainment or scientific research. It doesnt just take one person to stop this injustice it takes a
community to come together as one and stop this madness.
