Midterm Reflection
Prof. Intawiwat
The Path Towards a Better Grade
If I were to give myself a grade, I would give myself a mid-range B for my work thus far.
Even though I know that my topic will revolve around justification for Chriss actions and
whether it is considered as reckless, and even though I have followed the directions for each
thing we have done so far, I have failed to go back and edit my journals and other assignments.
I have turned them in on time, and I did try to revise them as I went, but I did not go as far and
beyond as to deserve that A.
For participation, I think I would deserve an A; a low A to be exact. Attendance-wise, I
have been in class each time and have not been tardy for any of them. I have made an attempt to
go into class with an overall good attitude, not a moody or irritated mood. I have been prepared
for class each week because I always have my assignments to show to others when we do peerediting or other related things. I also make sure to do my part when doing group work in class,
like giving summaries on the board for instance.
With the extended inquiry, I think I deserve a B. I deserve a B because I like the pace of
where I am going and the information I have gotten thus far. Even though I may not have made a
bucket list, I still tried to define myself through Chris. I compared his actions to mine and how I
would do things differently if I ever took Chriss place. At the moment, I am working to make
corrections to my proposal because I am taking my peers comments into consideration. They
have helped me a lot when it came to making my topic more understandable and they also helped
me raise further questions that would be useful to provide in my essay.

For the 3 reactions that I did so far, I do deserve an A. For the Shitty First Drafts, it may
not have been as good as hoped, but it was still a good effort for my first time in this class. For
the Understanding Types of Writing, I annotated the text and I made sure to prepare myself
beforehand before doing the actual reaction. For the Into the Wild discussion, I made sure to
provide thoughtful questions and also provide insightful comments to my peers to help them out.
All of these discussions did in fact help because it helped me revise my papers in a way that
would better define what I wanted to put into my paper. All these discussions also helped refresh
my mind on how the writing process is done.
If I were to grade my progress for the semester according to the four choices, I would
give myself an Above Average. I do tackle my topics in innovative ways, since I prefer to see
different sides to the story other than taking simply taking a stance on the issue. I do have
effective organizations, which includes opening paragraphs, body paragraphs, and concluding
paragraphs that follows the subject-verb agreements. I also check my sentences to see whether or
not they are grammatically correct. I also include my voice throughout my writing not only to
make it more engaging for the readers, but also to assure that I am not overly-formal with an
essay that it is not meant to be formal. I always turn in my things on time and with all parts
included as well.
Hopefully by the end of the semester, I will learn to go above and beyond with my work
and it will improve me as a writer. I really want that A by the end of the semester because then it
will demonstrate that I did indeed blossom into a better writer than when I first stepped foot into
this writing class. In order to assure myself an A or Above and Beyond grade, I will have to
continue to keep doing what I am doing, but put a little more extra effort in it. Maybe edit more
of my assignments would be helpful, or even delve more into whatever I am writing. For

example, I need to see where my writing is taking me and if what I am typing relates to what I
am trying to convey to towards the audience. By following these steps, it will hopefully lead me
into the grade that I desire.
