Philosophy of Education

I strongly believe that all children have the right to a quality education that will challenge
them to open their mind and become critical thinkers. Throughout my own educational
experiences at Arizona State University and interning at Grand Canyon Preparatory
Academy, I have been continuously prepared for an inclusive classroom. I desire to
implement cooperative learning strategies throughout my future instruction in order to
promote interpersonal skills that students will ultimately use in their colleges and career
fields.
To promote such learning, I will aim to anticipate students needs and prepare my lessons
accordingly. I will strive to create both direct and inquiry instruction that fully engages
and challenges my students while promoting interdependence and individual
accountability. I value student diversity and will encourage students to seek to understand
others opinions and beliefs. By collaborating in groups, students will learn how to
communicate their philosophies effectively while remaining attentive and unprejudiced.
Students will relate course content to previous instructions, personal experiences, and
events occurring both locally and globally in order to prepare them for the world outside
of the classroom. Technology will be embedded throughout instruction to foster
information literacy and promote appropriate digital citizenship.
As an educator, I will provide all of my students with a safe and engaging academic
atmosphere by establishing my classrooms on mutual respect. I will remain objective to
students while emphasizing to them the importance of correct student conduct. I believe
that it is beneficial for students to set high expectations when creating both short-term
and long-term goals, and as their teacher structure them with clear objectives to reach
those goals.
From past educational experiences of being left behind in classrooms where teachers
became frustrated with their students who did not understand their instructions, I will
strive to differentiate my instructions in order to appeal to a variety of learning styles so
that no child is left feeling overwhelmed. I intend to motivate students while teaching
them to be intrinsically motivated through supportive lessons and assignments. As well as
providing students with precise academic feedback in areas they need to improve. I desire
to uphold exceptional classroom organization by creating a circular inclusive learning
community, in order to increase student engagement and achievement.
As a prospective English teacher, I will aspire to share my passion for language and
literature to every student, connecting each lesson to the world outside of the classroom
in order to prepare them to become well-rounded members of society.
