Opening/Framing the Lesson/Introduction/Early Assessment
Going over many spelling words throughout the year,
students need a fun refresher of the words. At the
10:00
beginning of class I will split the class into two groups, and
hand each student a list of all the vocabulary words. They
will then look over all the words independently, quizzing
each other on the spelling, and defining the words. The
students will engage by using resources and collaborating
with their peers. The end result is to have students
remember the spelling words as well as working well with
their peers.

The Lesson Structure: Activities

One group will be working on the interactive whiteboards while
the other group will be working on the iPads. The team on the
whiteboard will be split into two different teams so that one
person from each team that will be standing on opposites
sides of the interactive whiteboard. A spelling word will be
verbally said from the computer. On their side of their
white board they will either have to spell the word, define
it, or give an example of the word depending on what the
computer said or shows on the whiteboard. The interactive
whiteboard will keep track of points in that if the student
gets the right answer, they get the point. Students will not
be able to copy each other because whoever does it faster
will get the points. When choosing who will go next, I will
use the random name generator.
On the iPads, the students will be using ABCya to make a
word cloud generator using the spelling words. They will be
able to save their document on their iPad so they can look
back on it later.

Closing/Assessment

Monitor/Feedback
Once the students are done
going over the words,
spend five minutes having
the student say the word
out loud for the whole class
to hear, and remembering
what each word means.

Every student will have the

opportunity to be on the
whiteboard at least 3 times.

Students will design their

own word cloud generator.

Engaging in the activity and with their peers appropriately will

assess the students.
