SemesterLongProjectProposal
Togetherourgrouphasdecidedthatanideawebothcannotonlyrelatetobutwouldlike
toresearchisAlzheimer'sandotherformsofDementiaandtheireffectsonfamilyrelations.We
bothhaverelativessufferingwiththeseconditionsandfamilymemberssufferinglikewisefrom
thedebilitatingsymptomsthevictimdisplaysasittearsrelationsandreapsmemory.Wewill
giveindepthresearchintothetopicsusingformalarticlesonhealthaswellasgiveourown
personalexperienceswithinourrespectivefamilies.
OurpresentationwillbeconductedusingPowerPointandwillgooverdescriptions,
history,andpersonalrelations.Wewillbeginbydefiningtheconditionsandspeakingtothe
historyofthediseases,transitioningintofurtherresearchontheactualvisiblesymptomsand
perhapsgointodiscussedcauses.Momentarily,however,wewillbesuretomentionbrieflythe
relationtousinordertokeepeverythingconnectedandinmindfortheaudience.Duringthis
periodwewillbegintoemphasizetheincurabilityofthediseasesaswellasfatality.Statistics
maybethrowninheretodescribejusthowencompassingthesediseasesareinoursocietytoday.
Wewillgoback,then,anddescribeourrelationstothediseasesinfurtherdetail,individually,
leadingtoafinalpointofhowthediseaseaffectsfamiliesasawhole.

Ourproposedplaniseffectiveforthetopicformanyreasons.Forone,theactualorderof
thedataandideaswearepresentingmatchesthoughtprocessesonnewideas.Itbeginswith
describingwhatourtopicis,whyitmatterstous(inaquickmannerastogarnersomeformsof
attention),andfurtherresearchintothetopicthatleadstotheseverityofthetopic,thenbackto
usaswereflectonhowourtopicaffectsus.Nowtheaudiencecanunderstandourown
experienceswithamoreeducatedlense.Thisshouldkeepouraudiencenotonlyentertainedand
attentive,butalsoallowforinformedintrospectionintothelivesoftheirfamiliesandthe
familiesaroundthem.Secondly,audiencestypicallyareinterestedinmorbid/scaryinformation,
soanindepthanalysisintothestatisticalprobabilitythatsomeonetheyknow,ifnotthem,may
getoneofthesetragicdiseasescouldstriketheirattentionandmakethemmoreawareofthe
detrimentaleffectsoftheseconditions.
Asforrolesandresponsibilitieswehavegenerallyplannedtosettheworkloadataneven
fiftyfifty:wewillgatherinformationfromoursidesofviewandsplittechnicalresearch,writing,
crafting,andpresenting.Thereasonthatthiscanbesoevenlysplitliesinthefactthatweare
roommatesand,assuch,haveextremelyhighlevelsofflexibilityaswecanworkneareachother
constantly,ifnecessary.Whatwilllikelyhappen,duetopersonalitytraits,isthatCritchleywill
endupdoingalittleoverfiftypercentoftheresearchingandKellywilldoalittleoverfifty
percentoftheformattingandorganizationthoughtheseincrementsoverfiftywillbeminimal
andinnowaydiscriminatoryorlazyinnature,ratherjustbetailoredtomaximumefficiency.
Ourworkingschedulewillberatherflexibleandrelaxedduetoourluckyaforementioned
proximity,howeverwehavesetgeneralworkingtimestogetresearchandpresentationwork
completed.WewillhavealldatessetforworklargelyonweekendsandwillworkonTuesdays

andFridaysifnecessary.Onthefirstweekendaftertheprojectassignment,October3rdand
October4th,wewillbeginourresearchandintendtobeginsomeabstracttoformallybeginthe
formattingofourpaper.Twoweekendsafter,October17thandOctober18th,weintendtohave
procuredaroughdraftofourpaper.Bythenextweekend,wewilltryandhavestartedour
PowerPointformatting,bythenextwewillhaverevisedourroughdraft,bythenextwewill
havearoughpresentationfinishedtobetweakedonthenextweekend,andfinallyonthe
followingweekend,weintendtorevisethedraftyetagainandstartpracticingourpresentation.
Again,thisisallflexibleandupforimprovementandideas.
