FOOD CHAINS

Oh no! Disaster has struck food chains

in biomes all over the world! The
carnivores are eating all the vegetation
up, and the herbivores are trying to
attack their predators because there
is no vegetation left. We need your
help sorting this mess out! Use the
knowledge you've gained in our science
class to help us figure out what a
proper food chain should look like!

Task
You

will work in your assigned table

groups. Together, you will choose a
biome from the list. You will need to
find the producers, herbivores, and
carnivores within your chosen biome.
Your table will create 3-4 possible
food chains for your biome, based
off of what you have found. As a
group, you will present a food chain
to the class.

What to do?
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

Your table will first need to decide what

biome you want to create a food chain for.
Once you have decided upon a biome, you
need to have your teacher approve it.
You will need to decide who will have each
role within the group.
Your group will research information on
your biome.
In your research you will need to find at
least 3 producers, herbivores, and
carnivores within your biome.

Task Continued
6. Once the research is complete, work as a
group to determine where each plant or
animal would go within the food chain.
7. As a group work on constructing food
chains for your biome using pictures, arrows
and labels.
8. Once your group has finished all of your
food chains, you will share as a class one of
the food chains your group has made.

This person will be responsible

for researching all the different types of
plants that grow in your biome.
Zoologists- This is a two person job, they
will be responsible for researching all
different types of animals (herbivores,
carnivores, and omnivores) in your biome
Illustrator- this person will be in charge of
creating a computer generated brochure
using Microsoft Office Publisher.

Congratulations
YOU

DID IT! Thanks to your help, you

saved the biomes! The herbivores are
back to eating the plants and the
carnivores are back to eating animals,
due to all of your hard work!!
