Need for the position

Australian Elite Soccer/Football Academy is in the business of sports coaching.
Since opening in 2005, Australian Elite Soccer/Football Academy has become a very
successful business.
Mr George Lazarou, the owner of the business and Head Coach, is focused on
growing the business.
However, Mr George Lazarou is finding it challenging to focus on his normal duties
and growing the business because he has temporarily taken on more work by
supervising junior coaching staff and coaching senior academy players. Therefore, a
new Football Coach position is urgently required to supervise junior coaching staff,
coach senior academy players, conduct fitness training, consult on nutrition as well
as test and evaluate the athletic attributes of academy players. This will allow the
Owner to focus on operational management and business development.
The Football Coach position will report to Mr Lazarou and is expected to work closely
with support staff such as the Junior Age Groups Technical Coach, Goalkeeper
Coach, Sports Trainer, Sports Physician, Nutritionist and Podiatrist. Three Junior
Coaches will report to the Football Coach position.
Consequently, the business has made a decision to recruit for an experienced
Football Coach. This role will hold a critical position in the organisation in order to
meet business objectives, satisfy the requirements of their long term contracts and
sustain this business growth.
Given the nature of the business and its mission, the required competencies for the
role are specific; therefore, someone with specialist skills is required for this position.

Target Market for Advertisements

As evidenced on the previous pages, the advertisements for the Football Coach
were designed specifically in order to capture the interest of certain key
demographics.
It is targeted towards people aged between 24 and 60, who are likely to have
sufficient core experience in the health and fitness industry. It hopes to attract a
diverse range of candidates from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines with
suitable experience and knowledge.
People from a younger age group are less likely to have the relevant industry or work
experience needed to take on the responsibilities of this position. For instance, they
may not be able to perform core duties with ease or have difficulties in working with
other staff in the workforce. However, candidates will still be considered and may be
successful if they possess the needed skills and aptitude for this position.
Several other factors are also taken into consideration, such as ease of access to
the business location and hours required by the employer. All potential candidates
that are Australian residents or hold an eligible temporary visa with work rights are
also considered. This is consistent with the Labour Market Testing guidelines.

As part of its holistic approach to Labour Market Testing, McKkrs has also contacted
relevant government agencies and industry bodies, requesting assistance in finding
avenues to recruit for suitable candidates. They were also invited to comment on
current industry trends that affect the likelihood of finding a qualified Football Coach.
However, these attempts were unsuccessful as they were unable to provide any
concrete leads to potential candidates mainly due to privacy issues.

Labour Marketing Testing Summary

Background
The client, Australian Elite Soccer/Football Academy, has enlisted McKkrs Pty Ltd to
conduct relevant advertising and recruitment activities for the Football Coach
position.

Operating at the request of Australian Elite Soccer/Football Academy,

McKkrs, has performed relevant processes such as posting job advertisements,

short listing applicants, conducting job interviews and assessing eligibility, in order to
find a suitable candidate for the said role.

Outcomes
Despite devoting greater than reasonable effort into finding a suitable domestic
candidate for the Football Coach role, Australian Elite Soccer/Football Academy was
unsuccessful in its recruitment attempts both independently as well as through a
recruitment agency.
Based on the low response rate for the job advertisements, the quality of
applications received and the current employment rate, it would appear that there is
lack of suitably qualified and experienced Australian worker or an eligible temporary
visa holder to fill this position.

This result is also consistent with employment

statistics on the current market trends (see Labour Market Trends section of this
report). In addition, with the position being listed on State Nomination Lists for some
States, it further strengthens a suggestion that the availability of qualified people is
low.
Given that the position is desperately required by Australian Elite Soccer/Football
Academy in order to satisfy its obligations under their new contracts as well as
