Semi-Argument: Position Paper (SIDS)

Building small states inside of different islands will greatly reduce
inequality, and help governments of different countries develop beneficial
opportunities. According to the Lino Briguglio, Foundation of International
Studies of the University of Mata, developing small states may also come
with several disadvantages including environmental disasters, and limitation
on food sources. Though The Division of Sustainable Development
Knowledge Platform emphasizes that by creating small a state inside of an
island, during multiple natural disasters there will be a significant expansion
of support services and reduce environmental collapse. The process of this
development may come with several cautions, but by building these small
states will expand the world of technology improving a diversity of
knowledge, and enhance environmental values.
In contrast, the major issues that the UNEP Foresight Process of
Emerging Global Environmental Issues state that, by making this
transformation the limitation of fresh water will increase due to smaller
islands having a smaller environment and less access to fresh services. The
decline in biodiversity and the security of the necessities of life will decrease
which plays a very important role in food production. With restrictions on
food production, the quality sources that are needed to secure the balance of
food services and natural resources will be environmentally threatened.

Although, these are critical issues that may cause damage to the source of
fresh water and production limitations, creating small states within small
islands remains a helpful improvements among a sustainable development.
Achime Steiner, executive director of the United Nations Environment
Programe, elaborates that there is a wealth of opportunities that can greatly
improve a transition into a green economy. Pollution has been a serious
issues over the years in many countries. In reference to The Office of the
High Representatives for the Least Developed Countries, the purpose of
creating this development is to develop information systems and baseline
data that will manage waste and pollution control. Using the appropriate
actions and standards will actually strengthen the management of fresh
water resources as well. The procedures to monitor and respond to the
impacts of water resources will strengthen reducing the competing demands
of limited water resources. These small states will also create international
communities that will increase the cultural diversity which creates broader
educational opportunities. Small islands developing states will create an
expansion of diversity that will become a great benefit to improving
resources for the economy and environment.
In conclusion, developing small states inside of islands benefits the
strategies to protect and develop traditional knowledge, and promote human
and environmental abilities at a national and regional level. This
development also expands into a great warning system during natural
disasters that will improve, support, and prepare local communities before

disaster events. Although developing these small states comes with various
cautions, there are sources and opportunities that will reduce those hazards.
The process of developing a source that will improve and benefit the
environment and economy will create a great transformation into a better
world or diversity.
