processing with the Microsoft Word program.
Our main focuses will be:
FORMAT
FORMATTING TEXT

BASIC COMPUTER FUNCTIONS

BASIC WORD PROCESSING FUNCTIONS

CAN YOU NAME ANY

FUNCTIONS OF MICROSOFT
WORD?
Class, lets brainstorm any functions that can be performed on
Microsoft Word.
(This lecture would be performed at a computer lab where each
student is at a computer and exploring the program while I instruct. Or
I project Microsoft Word on an over head projector in the classroom.)
Functions that should be listed:
Typing
Saving
Printing text
Deleting
Inserting
Changing text
Copying/Pasting

BASIC COMPUTER/WORD
PROCESSING FUNCTIONS
Here are all the functions that Microsoft Word has to offer
and computer functions in all computers in general. We can
explore and learn the many functions here:

intergate.cvesd.k12.ca.us/eastlake/comp_lit/word_prs/basic/
basic.htm
These are the functions for both Apple and Windows
computers. The list of functions includes what keys to click
and shortcuts for each function. If you need assistance refer
to this page at any time.

DONT FORGET, VERY

IMPORTANT!
All functions of word processing and of a computer are
important but remember the most important one of all.

SPELL CHECK
Spell check is important after any document you create
because you want to make sure all the words in your
document are spelled correctly. Spell check is also important
for catching any grammar errors. Of course, you cannot
always rely on Spell Check to correct your spelling/grammar
errors. Always have me proofread your documents after
doing Spell Check.

SPELL CHECK FUN!

Can you spot the spelling or grammar errors?
(Here the students and I will talk about some of the obvious errors)
A Little Poem Regarding Computer Spell Checkers...

Miss steaks eye kin knot sea.

ACTIVITY TIME!
Class, I will hand out a worksheet that will help each of you to
practice your word processing skills. Please follow the
directions carefully. You have approximately 20 minutes to
complete this activity. After everyone is finished we will go
over the answers as a class. You may work alone or with a
partner. Enjoy and good luck!
Here is the worksheet on practicing word processing:

(At this time the students will complete the worksheet. After
20 minutes I will project my computer screen of Microsoft
Word so that the students can follow step by step each
instruction.)

GREAT JOB CLASS!

Great job class, now that we are done with
this lesson. Lets log off of our student
accounts and lock the computers. If you
need assistance please ask. Before heading
out of the computer lab I am going to go
around to each student and you must name
a function that you learned today.

REFERENCE
This is the lesson plan I chose, it was not modified just used
for this Final project.
