Introduction:
This cross-curricular unit aims to illuminate The
Renaissance through deep investigation of the
art and math discoveries made during the time
period, and their relation to each other. Each
content area will be activated in ways that will
guide each student to deeper understanding of
The Renaissance, as well as allow students to
take on different perspectives of learning about
the Renaissance in engaging ways.

Trading Card
Using a Trading Card template, students will research a famous
Renaissance portrait painting and insert the artwork and answer
questions to help students interpret the painting and understand
the time period in which it was created.

Formative Assessment 1: Primary Source investigation: Students will analyze a primary source relevant to their project topic and write a
summary of the artifact in a one-pager.
Formative Assessment 2: Students will write a paragraph summary of the historic context of their Art and Math subject. This will be used
to support the summative assessment research paper. Students will use peer review to assess each other's work.
