I am pleased to write this letter of recommendation for Katelyn Tamaray. Katelyn is applying for a position as a registered nurse at your hospital. Based on my observations of Katelyn as a student at the University of Arizona College of Nursing, I believe she would make an excellent addition to your staff. Katelyn is a student enrolled in a community health nursing course I am teaching this semester. For the clinical practicum in the course, Katelyn completed a 5-week rotation with the Pima County Health Department Pubic Health Nursing Division, conducting a community assessment and providing population-focused care to vulnerable communities. Her experiences included working with school-aged children in a variety of school districts and with homeless adults. Based on her grades, her attendance, and her participation in class, I would rate her performance as excellent. Katelyn has many strengths. She is reliable and responsible, as she consistently met deadlines, completed assigned tasks, and honored her commitments. She has good interpersonal skills and works well with peers, professionals in the community and the public. She is articulate, warm and friendly. The service-learning project she completed for the course involved a significant amount of research and writing, skills that Katelyn has mastered. Katelyn also demonstrated initiative and flexibility by taking advantage of learning and service opportunities outside her assigned clinical day to enrich her community experience and meet community needs. Most importantly, Katelyn consistently demonstrated compassion and respect for vulnerable populations, especially those living in disadvantaged and underserved communities. In conclusion, I would highly recommend Katelyn Tamaray for a position as a registered nurse in your organization. If her performance in my class is any indication of how she will perform as nurse, Katelyn will be a positive addition to your staff. Please feel to contact me at the number below if I can be of any further assistance.
