Identify and explain the Defense Mechanisms the character uses? (Freud)
Melvin Udall utilizes a number of Defense Mechanism in dealing with his feelings of anxiety.
Repression, obsession, and compulsion being the primary defence mechanism, is utilised a great
deal by Melvin.
Explain the Inferiority Complex the character exhibits? (Adler)
His relationship with his father could relate to his mental illness. He said his father made his life
stressful when he was a child. His dad is so strict about following the rules and other small
things. This is one of the family risk factor for the feelings of inferiority.

He seems to hate everything and everybody. He have the intense dislike of people and the dog.
But he seems to like himself and he is so obsessed about his stuff.

sober. He gets anxiety because of his disease, obsessive-compulsive disorder.

She is incapable and weak when it comes to her blood, her son.

People viewed her as an amazing woman who is very hardworking and self-reliant. She viewed
herself as a doubtful and an self-conscious women.

He is weak and powerless when it comes to his parent because he dont want to remember that
incident.

Other viewed him as a outgoing and experience person who knows what he wants in life, but he
feels himself as a shy and helpless for other.

He falls in Sanguine (Stable and extraverted) because he is carefree and responsible about his
things and his works.

happen in the way he wants, he always do bad things or act in an immature way. Its a regression.

He acts like he is superior and confident because in real, he is inferior and have less self sense.
