To contribute to the goal of preparing beginning teachers who are reflective practitioners, student teachers will write an
Action Plan at the end of each field experience in conjunction with the cooperating teacher and/or the University
supervisor. It will synthesize each field experiences evaluation, link each field experience to the next, establish goals
for improvement, and form an agenda for discussion between the student teacher, the cooperating teacher and
University supervisor at the beginning of the next field experience.

Competency 6: To plan, organize and supervise a class in such a way as to promote students learning
and social development.
Competency 9: To cooperate with school staff, parents, partners in the community and students in
pursuing the educational objectives of the school.
I need to be more assertive in the classroom in order to demonstrate my role as a teacher. I am an
introverted person and I tend to speak softly. Due to my nature, it is hard to capture students` attention
and as a result, I lose track of time. I also need to speak slowly since I have a tendency to speed through
lessons due to nervousness.
I also want to develop a good relationship with the staff members and parents of a school. Good
communication can improve my own teaching practices, and I am always looking for classroom
behavioural and management strategies.
In terms of evaluation, I would like to be able to not only create effective rubrics, but also practice
assessing students with different methods of evaluating their understanding and to ensure proactive
learning.
I also need to improve my grammar, including punctuations and spelling. My written skills are often
weak, and I have trouble expressing my thoughts on paper.
Strategies for improvement:
In order to increase assertiveness in a classroom setting, I could circulate around more. By doing so, I
can capture the attention of students who are not focused in the classroom. Whenever appropriate, I
need to start speaking louder and employ strategies like raising my hand to get the class to settle down.
Being quiet is an effective way to settle down a restless class since yelling does not always work.
I need to get involved in school activities and projects to build relationships with fellow staff members
and parents. In order to build my confidence with my teaching practice. I should set small achievable
goals. I could start by teaching a manageable sized group and eventually work up to a standard number
in a classroom.
I can assess student`s understanding formatively with using non-verbal feedback during a lesson or
observing them during in class activities. This will allow me to identify the students who may need
improvement in. It is also a good practice to include different ways to optimize students learning
before expecting all of them to do well on test.
Getting supportive feedback from others and revising my works will develop my writing skills. I am
aware that as a teacher, the spoken language in the classroom setting is as important as the written skills
in order to meet the requirements of any competencies. This would build my confidence in expressing
my ideas and opinions. If I can take gradual steps to make the necessary changes to my learning, I will
not only be helping myself, but also help my students in my future career as an educator.
