LEVEL OF MASTERY
By the end of his or her initial training, the student teacher should be able to :
contribute to the work of the teaching team in an effective manner;
Provide constructive criticism and make innovative suggestions with respect
to the team's work.
HOW HAVE I DEVELOPED THIS COMPETENCY DURING THIS COURSE
OR PROFESSIONAL SEMINAR/FIELD EXPERIENCE?

It was a very enriching 3rd field experience where I was able to learn a lot of new teaching
strategies, lesson plans, and management techniques that I had never had the opportunity to be a
part of before. I was able to create lesson plans and team teach with my CT during the first three
weeks of my field experience.
I also observed my CTs teaching on multiple occasions which permitted me to reflect on her
teaching practices as well as my own. This allowed myself to gain insights and make room for
improvement on my own teaching practises when my supervisor came to evaluate the lessons I
taught. My CT would be very supportive in the feedback she would offer as to what worked in a
classroom setting and what did not work as well.
In addition, my CT would often ask for my input regarding the breakdown of the evaluation
grade on the math and language power tests. Since she knows my strong point

is in math and science, she relied on my personal judgement.

I attended cycle meetings over the course of my field experience and we
discussed ways to improve the school learning environment. For example, I
collectively worked with my CT and her colleague in designing a lesson plan
for the ERC monthlys theme on Kindness. I was motivated to implement the
ideas I shared in the meetings to do an activity on the acts of kindness. This
proved to be very successful when my supervisor came to evaluate me on
this lesson. I also had mentioned the suggestions I should employ into the
lesson (i.e. provide to the students real life situations that displays acts of
kindness) with respect to the teams work.
This helped me to develop in this competency as the success of our activities
relied entirely on our ability to communicate and work together.
