Ethics Kindness Lesson Plan

Level: Kindergarten (6)/ Grade One (10)
Subject: Ethics
Duration: 30 minutes
Objectives:
By the end of this lesson, student will be able to:
Understand the difference between being kind and unkind
Materials:
Book King Pig
Worksheets
White Board
Introduction:
I will start by reading the book King Pig. I will ask students to come sit down at the
front of the class in their assigned seats. Once everyone is quiet I will use a cue to
grasp the students attention. I will start by showing the cover of the book and
reading the title. I will then ask, What do you think this story is about? I will
ask a few students their opinion and I will then move on. While I am reading the
book I will sometimes pause to ask students, What just happened? or What
do you think will happen next? Once we have completed the book we will have
a discussion.
Discussion Questions:
Was the King Pig being a good friend to the sheep?
What could he have done to be a nicer king?
Did the sheep like the king?
Activity:
I will then ask students to go back to their desk. I will ask the kindergarten to go
first and then the girls and then the boys. I will show the worksheet to the class and
say, I want you to think about what else the pig could have done to be
nicer to the sheep. Once you have your idea, draw it in the box on the top.
Write down your idea on the lines at the bottom. To make sure everyone
understands I will say, Thumbs up if you understand what to do. I will ask
the helper of the day to help me hand out the worksheet. I will go over the
worksheet with the students. I will then walk around and help students as they
complete the worksheet. For the writing portion of the worksheet I will encourage
students to sound out words they dont know. I will guide them by using the
alphabet that it up on the walls. I will use the white board to write down the words
students commonly ask me to spell.

Early finishers: Early finishers will have a picture they could colour or they could
read at their desk.
Closure: At the end of the of the activity I will ask, What did you learn about this
activity? This will allow me to see if the students understood the purpose of the
activity and what they learned from it.
