Good afternoon:

Mr. (Germain) Bergeron; (Co-Owner of Muwin Wines)

Members of the media; and

Ladies and gentlemen.

Its my pleasure to be here with you today to celebrate yet another

important milestone for Muwin Estate Wines.

Before I get to what brings us together today, I want to commend

Dominic and Germain on a job well done

Back in 2010, both of these internationally-renowned and awardwinning wine masters realized what locals have known for some
time:

New Ross is not only beautiful, its a great place to do

businessand, as we have seen, its a great place to make
wine and cider too!

Drawing on natural, locally-grown and hand-picked ingredients,

Dominic and Germain have built a company that is exporting Nova
Scotian flavours globally, and reinforcing this provinces reputation
for creating distinctive, delicious, inspired products.

I would like to congratulate you on a job well done!

From South Korea to British Columbia.New York to Alberta

your products are being enjoyed around the world, and this is
reinforcing your companys and Nova Scotias international
reputation for superior wine products.

Our Government is encouraged by the innovative vision of

companies like Muwin Estate Wines, that contribute to business
growth and prosperity for all.

Thats because strong businesses build strong communities and a

strong nation.

This project is a great example of our Governments commitment

to building a strong, competitive regional economy.

Quality products sustainable farming practices. and just that

right amount of uniqueness to make Nova Scotian wines
memorable has meant continued growth, recognition and
demand for Nova Scotias products globally.

To continue to maximize our economic success, we need smart,

forward-thinking companies like Muwin that know innovation
leading to new or expanded markets is key to business growth.

Our Government is committed to helping businesses become more

innovative, productive and competitive.

Through our Economic Action Plan 2014, we will provide

approximately $450 million to ACOA over the next five years to
support innovation and commercialization in Atlantic Canada.
This will help Atlantic businesses to develop new products and
services and bring them to market, acquire and adapt to become
more competitive, and build the business skills necessary to
compete in todays economy.

Our Government has also committed to job creation and we are

working on several fronts to achieve this.

One initiative is leveraging new trade opportunities to deliver

economic prosperity for all Canadians.

For example, the Canada-EU Trade Agreement is expected to

inject $12 billion per year into our economy and increase bilateral
trade by 20 percent.

But what does this mean to the average hard-working Nova

Scotians? One wordjobs.
This historic free-trade agreement has the potential to create
80,000 jobs.

Our Government will continue to create jobs and make decisions

designed to improve the quality of life for all Canadians while being
fiscally responsible.

We will not borrow from future generations.

Instead, our Government is working steadfastly to create

conditions for Canadians, their businesses and communities to
chart their own course and succeed.

Its why weve lowered taxes for job-creating businesses and

families by tens of billions of dollars.
These initiatives will help drive economic growth, ensure the
resilience of our economy and improve quality of life for
Canadians.

Which brings us to why weve gathered here today.

I am happy to announce today that the Government of Canada,

through ACOAs Business Development Program, is supporting
Muwin Estate Wines in its continued growth with a repayable
investment of $147,500.

I am pleased to say that this investment will enhance Muwins

ability to do just that: continue their growing ways!

This funding will help Muwin expand their facility, and purchase
new equipment.

It will also contribute to branding and marketing costs, which will

help the company fulfill rapidly increasing export demand for its
signature, authentic Bulwark craft cider.

Products like these are creating a reputation for Nova Scotia

around the world: Nova Scotia knows wine!

And now, with signature products like Bulwark, they are starting to
realize: We know ciders, too!

This expansion will help raise awareness and demand for Nova
Scotian products globally as well as create opportunities for the

provinces wine industry to explore new markets.

Your success is a catalyst for continued growth.

Today, our wine industry is recognized as a major economic driver

and it continues to expand.

We have achieved great success here in Nova Scotia growing

from one winery in 1980 to 20 today which inject approximately
$196 million into the economy annuallyand that doesnt even
include ciders!

Our Governments top priorities are jobs, growth and long-term

prosperity and we are working with communities and businesses
across Atlantic Canada by supporting initiatives, like this one, that
lead to economic growth for years to come.

to make this project a reality.

Our best wishes for Muwin Estate Wines continued growth and
success. Thank you.
