United States Forest Service- Mio MI
Forestry Technician Fire- May 2015- August 2015
I was a crew member/ senior firefighter on a type 3 fire engine. I am proficient in maintenance of
the type 3 engine. I drafted water from both streams and snap tank. I have been incident commander on
several type 5 fires. I am proficient in series and parallel pumping. I went out with the Huron Manistee
Fire Module for 2 assignments, were I completed my Firefighter type 1/ Squad boss task book. I also
worked on my FEMO (Fire Effects Monitor) task book. I have mapped the perimeter of the fire along
with placing way points at water sources, hazards and designated areas. I am proficient in browns
transects, crown bulk density and fuel load calculations. I am proficient in prescribed burning and help
with the action plan for the burns.

I was a crew member on a type 6 fire engine where I am proficient in using
and the maintenance of the pump. I deployed hose packs around the perimeter of
fires, helped with mop up and being the incident commander trainee of several
fires. I am proficient in using browns transects. I have worked in reforestation by
plotting the layouts of a reforestation plan. I have done soil assessments when
trying to figure out fire intensity and fire mortality. I have lead crews while on a wild
land fire module. I have been a lookout over a fire and relayed my observations to
dispatch and personnel on the fire. I have spun weather and relayed my weather
observations to dispatch and personnel on the fire. I have been both holding and
firing operations during prescribed fires.

Wildland fire suppression Trail maintenance, campground work, dug fire line to prepare
prescribed fire units, used chainsaw to brush trails, and did maintenance on fire equipment.
Drove tractors to groom trails, cut down trees with chainsaw, dug fire line with hand tools and
used drip torch to light fire and burn out. I was a core member of a wildland fire module. I used a
comp tract to measure fuel moisture. I have put in dozer line to contain fire, along with burning
off the dozer line with drip torch to make line more secure. I have worked with structure
assessment sheets. I have monitored a fire from a look out along with spinning weather.
