Dynamic Kids Childcare Training Plan


Program Description
In an economy in which an increasing number of households require single parents or
both to work a full time job, finding a quality after school program is a high priority. Low wages,
workplace stress and cost of benefits can affect employee morale and the quality of care provided
to children. In 2004, economic development strategies encouraged the promotion of quality child
care for parents who needed to take advantage of this initiative without sacrificing quality care
for their children. In order to participate in the economic development planning proceed
community leaders must understandthe child care market (Warner et al., 2004, p. 4).
Quality childcare at an affordable price is something parents look for when choosing a
childcare facility. Dynamic Kids Childcare Academy challenges children academically and
equips them with social skills necessary to be successful in the future.
Intended Audience
The intended audience for training will be individuals who are at least 18 years of age
and have a minimum of a high school diploma and have at least one year of childcare experience.
Childcare Associates who do not encompass work-related experience will be required to
complete 16 hours of online child development training. Online training is mandatory for all staff
members which includes childcare associates.

Training Goals

Appropriate formal and informal training of all staff members to include childcare
associates, is necessary for creating and environment conducive to high quality care. Parents
want to insure their children are treated with care and receive quality early-childhood
development standards. Our training goals have been created to:
Develop corporate standards and guidelines for caring for children
Cultivate a program dedicated to health and safety training for childcare associates to
equip them with knowledge on safety procedures for children. (CPR Certification)
Create training on proper protocol on how to appropriately measure and provide proper
dosage of all prescribed medication for children.

Training Objectives
Meeting specific objectives will allow us to reach our goals:

Childcare Associates demonstrate proper protocol for deliver medication as needed

with 100% accuracy.


Excellent customer services skills, including face-to-face, via phone and on social

media will be delivered with 100% accuracy.


Childcare Associates will recognize and respond to health and safety after course

assessment questions at 100% accuracy. This is mandatory.


Childcare Associates will locate emergency exits, demonstrate proper use of
extinguishers, and recognize the correct fire and tornado procedures with 100%

accuracy.
Childcare Associates will demonstrate intervention practices to minimize the
likelihood of Sudden Infant Death (SIDS) with 100% accuracy.
Part II - Needs Analysis

Cornell University reported a link between economic development and the need for child
care services. (2004). The results of the report revealed specific areas that would assist in
maintaining economic stability, and the community will have to acknowledge:
[Paying] attention to quality of life and human development are important not just in the
sort-term, but also for long-term economic development. We have identified investments
in child care as part of the social infrastructure that ensures our communities are
prepared for business change and growth (Warner and Liu 2004; Warner et al., 2004 p.
4).
The child care profession has been known to hire under qualified workers for low wages.
Due to these hiring practices, parents are unable to depend on child care works for long-term
care services. According to the Florida early childhood workforce compensation study (2013),
The education and training of child care professionals have been linked to positive outcomes for
children in child care (pg. 7). Care associates working as teachers in the facilitys classroom
must meet higher level educational standards. In response to this need, potential child care
associates working as teachers in the classroom must meet a higher level of educational
standards. There will be three techniques used to screen the educational needs of adults who
desire to work for Dynamic Kids. The three techniques will be questionnaires, job and task
analysis and observations.
Questionnaires
Parents or family members who desire to work as Assistant Care Providers for Dynamic
Kids will be required to complete a questionnaire to analyze the need for education and
additional training. Interested parents or family members will need to provide their highest level
of education, skills and any training certificates received. The questionnaire will available via
mail, phone or in person at their convenience.
Job and Task Analysis

The results of a job and task analysis for Assistant Care Providers, who express interest in
teaching, must have at least 24 college credits and/or have several years of child care service
experience. Having the minimum criteria will indicate those who are qualified to manage a
classroom effectively, respond appropriately to parents, and work with others. Once approved,
the new Assistant Care Provider will sign-up online to begin child care development online
courses.
Observations
Volunteer assistance will close the gap for randomly needed help with miscellaneous task
and with assisting teachers with non-teaching tasks. Young adults and older adults at any age
may serve as volunteers in Dynamic Kids facility. The hiring strategy of Dynamic Kids is to
maintain a pool of potential teachers. The Dynamic Kids staff will conduct informal volunteer
observations on their ability to interact with children, maintain a positive attitude and expressing
a desire to obtain child care development credentials.
Impact on Adult Learning
The mentioned techniques to obtain new staff and retain existing staff associates,
positively impacts adult learner in several ways: (1) child care Associates can be confident that
they received adequate training to provide high quality service, (2) Willing adults can share their
care for children by becoming a volunteer, (3) Care Associated pursing personal/profession
growth and development will having opportunity to receive ongoing training, (4) Parents,
Assistant Care Providers, and volunteers will serve as stakeholders in adding value to their
community.

Part III Budget

As a new entrant into the childcare industry, Dynamic Kids will focus on providing
childcare service to infants (6 weeks- 11 months); toddlers (12 23 months), and young children
(2-5 years). The number of trained caregivers will be contingent upon the initial number and
gradual increase of children enrolled prior to Dynamic Kids grand opening.
Pay Rate
The pay rate for childcare workers varies between infant room teachers, preschool
teachers, teachers of older children, and the director and assistant director positions. Hamel
(2015) cites that as of May 2011, Workers earned an average hourly wage of $10.00the
median hourly pay rate was $9.02 (para. 1). Teacher assistants earned $10.44 an hour, and
daycare administrators (Directors) earned $24.68 an hour, whereas, the median income was
$19.36.
In another study by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS, 2011) reports that
nationally, child care professional earn a median hourly wage of $10.25 (Florida early
childhood workforce compensation study, 2013, p. 9). Dynamic Kid Childcare will select a
median pay rate combining the national average and compensation in Florida.

Training Expenses
The current budget will include the salary or hourly pay rate of all new Child Care
Associates who participate in mandatory pre-service orientation training. Employees budgeted
into the start-up phase of Dynamic Kids are the following:

Fringe Benefits
In order to retain quality staff, Care Associates who have biological, documented proof of
adopted or foster children, or are the legal guardian of children, will receive child care services at
a discounted rate according to market value and the confidential financial situation of each Child
Care Associate. Therefore, childcare services will be available for Child Care Associates
participating in orientation and ongoing training.
External Staff
External staff will consist of willing volunteer workers (Child Care Volunteers) who will
participate in greeting children and parents and assisting teacher with various tasks within the
classroom. Child Care Volunteers will be needed to care for children during Child Care Associate
orientation training and ongoing training courses.

Maslows hierarchy of Needs Handout, Facility Building Handout, Poison Prevention Tips
handout, Bureau of Child Care Sanitation Inspection Guidelines, and Evaluation Questionnaire

Personal Development/Ongoing Training After completing orientation training and


working 600 clock hours, Care Associates will have access to a computer and printer to complete
their 180 hours, online early childhood credential.
Technical Support
Dynamic Kids Child Care has a staff member on dude for all technical support..
Equipment

Orientation training - laptop/monitor and projector for PowerPoint presentations.


Personal development/Ongoing training computer, mouse, printer, headphones.

Travel
Gas vouchers and bus tokens will be provided for Child Care Associates on an as needed
basis, not to exceed $30 a month per Child Care Associate.
Facilities
Dynamic Kids Child Care will provide space as needed for personal
development/ongoing training for employees.
Supplies
The following is a list of the supplies needed during orientation training: white board,
easel with paper, pens, pencils, copy paper, printer ink, note pads, coffee, coffee condiments,
bottled water, orange juice, apple juice, breakfast bars, and fruit.
Estimated Income Sources
Dynamic Kids will receive funding from fundraiser proceeds from Dynamic Kids Inc.
(parent company), private donations, and individual support. The following government program
will subsidize a significant amount of our estimated income:

Investing value in our staff is a strategic approach, for helping parents find the answer to
their child care needs search. Our strategy is to implement strict hiring practices by conducting
extensive background checks and enforcing training requirements that ensure children and
parents are receiving the highest quality care in their community.
Encouraging Personal and Professional Growth
Dynamic Kids Childcare believes that optimal care to children and proper respect toward
parents, creates an educational, fun, and safe environment in which children and their families
can grow, share ideas, and build an internal community of trust for the sake of the children. This
is obtainable through the direct interaction with our Child Care Associates. To the degree that
Care Associates feel they are valued, the more valuable they will feel and give to the children in
their care through having a positive attitude, physical energy, and a willingness to make a
positive impact in the lives of those they come into contact. Competitive wages and educational

support are two investment opportunities available to potential staff members to encourage
personal and professional growth.
Hiring Requirements
Retaining quality workers is the greatest challenge for the childcare industry. Therefore, it
is critically important that potential Care Associates have the right attitude toward children, and
have a fundamental understanding of how children behave and interact with others.
Qualification for Potential Care Associates:
Center Director Director is required to have a bachelors degree with at least three years of
preschool teaching experience or equivalent (i.e., substitute teacher in a school district located in
the state of center facility). Director must have CDA credential, interpersonal skills, both verbal
and written communication skills, and a leader/coach approach to all staff members.
Curriculum Coordinator Curriculum Coordinator is required to have bachelors degree
(preferably in Child Development or education), and actively pursuing CDA. Curriculum
Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing program curriculum and activities
for each classroom. Must exhibit strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Required to work a minimum of 40 hours a week, not to exceed 50 hours a week.
Infant Care Provider Infant Room Care Provider is required to have an associates degree
(also be pursuing) or at least one year of childcare experience, and actively pursuing CDA. Must
exhibit strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Required to work a
minimum of 40 hours a week.
Toddler Care Provider Toddler Care Provider is required to have an associates degree (also be
pursuing) or at least one year of childcare experience, and actively pursuing CDA. Must exhibit
strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Required to work a minimum of
40 hours a week.
Preschool Care Provider Preschool Care Provider is required to have an associates degree
(also be pursuing) or at least one year of childcare experience, and actively pursuing CDA. Must
exhibit strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Required to work a
minimum of 40 hours a week.
Assistant Care Provider Assistant Care Provider is required to have a high school diploma or
GED. Must have at lease on year of childcare experience. Must exhibit strong interpersonal,
communication, and organizational skills. Required to work a minimum of 40 hours a week.
Food Health Coordinator Food Health Coordinator is required to have a high school diploma
or GED. Must have at lease on year of childcare experience. Must exhibit strong interpersonal,
communication, and organizational skills. Required to work a minimum of 40 hours a week.

(or agreement to complete a GED program within six month of hire). Must exhibit strong

Internal/External Resources
Maintaining a quality driven child care requires a collaboration of individuals who are
willing to invest in the lives of children and their families. Volunteer will serve as our internal
resource for providing help with certain jobs and task in the classroom and/or with facility
activities. External resources include guest speakers and course trainers who will schedule visits
to our facility for informational purposes, training, and inspiration.

Strategy to Fill Resource Gaps
Dynamic Kids Child Care will fill resource gaps by the availability of volunteers and
Assistant Care Providers as needed. Assistant Care Providers serve as floater to provide relief
breaks for Care Providers of each class room.
Staff Performance Evaluation
Care Associates participating in ongoing training are evaluated by the online curriculum
by the Online Early Childhood Credential program for CDA credentialing process.

Part VI Communication Plan


The training and development of new and existing employees on an ongoing basis allows
us to keep updated on new research, information and strategies for child care centers. As a result,
Dynamic Kids Child Care will be a valuable resource for Care Associates who desire to develop
personally and professional toward a career to care for children. In order for children and parents
to receive the best care instructions from our Child Care Associates, our hiring practices embrace
the talents of young adults and adults who has a minimum of a high school diploma. Care
Associates with less than a two year degree are required to attend sixteen hours of in-house
training specifically designed to educate our employees and volunteers on the development of
Children.

The slogan Dynamic Kids Are Born To Shine!is a universal message that touches the
core of the mission for Dynamic Kids: Adults, in comparison to babies learning how to walk,
learn from their experiences. No matter how many times they trip or fall, others are near to share
their experiences with others, serving as a helping hand in identifying new learning
opportunities, or to make improvements from what has already been accomplished.
External Support
Care Associates Training goes beyond the formal training they will receive for their
orientation training or in receiving their CDA credentials. Specific social media products are
available during Care Associate breaks, lunch, and after work to encourage daily interactions
among employees. There are many child care centers in Florida, so it is beneficial for our Care
Associates to stay connected with other colleagues in the field of child care through blogs,
websites, and YouTube videos.
Blogs
For the purpose of staying connected and communicating with other child care providers
for new information and encouragement, Care Associates can search for related blogs during
designated times.
Websites
Websites are still ideal resources for Care Associates who wish to take the opportunity to
research job related sources for their own professional development. They are encouraged to
revisit approved sites during their lunch, break times, and/or after work hours.
YouTube Videos

You Tube videos discussing topics on safety, hygiene, classroom behavior, sanitation, and
guest services are the training modules that will include video instructions for Care Associates to
review over and over again as needed.

Part VII Program Evaluation


Training facilitators will monitor group discussions at the conclusion of each training
module, and during question and answers segments. Extended time with questions and answers
and group discussions are some of the issues expected to arise. In order to prevent this
overextended usage of time, the training facilitators will monitor the scheduled time for group
discussions using a timer set for two-minutes. Questions and answer segments are set for fifteen
minute durations.
Care Associates will follow the class instructor as he or she reviews and discusses
pertinent information in the training manual for fill-in-the blank questions that are to be totally
competed by the Care Associates. Training manuals will be collected for a level 2 evaluation for
correct answers and completion.

At the conclusion of each training day, Care Associates are asked to complete a fivequestion level 1 survey regarding the instructors training delivery and content of material.
Formative Evaluation
A formative evaluation will be conducted throughout the Care Associates training
process. It is important that training facilitator provide feedback from Dynamic Kids board
members to insure that correct and pertinent information is given during training.
The main purpose for conducting a formative evaluation is to satisfy all requirements
given by State of Floridas, Board of Directors for hiring, training, and developing quality Care
Associates. Care Associates who are: facility directors, assistant directors, curriculum designers,
teaching facilitators, nutrition guides, and cleaning facilitators are our training audience who at
minimum, have completed at least sixteen hours of child-development classes, are enrolled in
college courses, or have earned an Associates degree, bachelors degree or higher
Care Associates will follow the class instructor as he or she reviews and discusses pertinent
information in the training manual for fill-in-the blank question that are to be totally competed
by the Care Associates. Trainer will collect training manuals for a level 2 evaluation of correct
answers and completion.
At the conclusion of each training day, Care Associates will complete a five-question
level 1 survey regarding the instructors training delivery and content of material.
