Artifact Title: Math Chapter Power Point Review
Portfolio Author: Christina Cornia

Iowa Teaching Standard 4 Uses strategies to deliver instruction that meets the multiple
learning needs of students.
I have used Microsoft Power Point, or Google Slides, to create math chapter review activities. Each chapter in
our GoMath! curriculum provides to test options. I used the test form B to create the power points. I have
students work in small groups, or two large groups. I present each slide with a story problem, the students
work cooperatively to solve and share the answers. This has been an effective method of review before a test.
Using technology with this instruction brings about a higher level of engagement than a paper and pencil
review.
Reflection on artifact:
I enjoy reviewing in this manner. I am able to see what concepts are still hazy and this provides an
opportunity for re-teaching. The students enjoy keeping score of how many questions their team gets right.
They use their competiveness to push each other to do better. This competiveness can also be a hindrance.
Some students are in such a rush to be first they make mistakes along the way. This leads to a discussion of
checking work to ensure correctness over speed. The review power points are a wonderful tool to review and
to complete work in different formats.
