"Gamelan and Gambuh"-- which views the instrument and the ensemble as one collective
whole; and that the arts (theatre, dancing, music, and singing) are a collective whole as well.

Group Harmonization Exercise


Group of 5
Within D Pentatonic, make a harmonization to a provided Balinese Melody
Use a variety of provided instruments (must have at least two Ipad instruments,
Barred Instruments, Chimes, and poetry)
Selection of Balinese-esque poetry will be provided.

Week Six (Reading Integration)


Introduction to Balinese Poetry

Break up into Groups of 2: Composition Challenge (Use CC dice)
Roll a dice for a prescribed Rhythmic Pattern, to change it into an ostinato that fits the text
Roll a dice for a required included instrument
Must use either D or F pentatonic
Only SIX bars, that will be repeated for the entirety of the poem stanza.

Week Seven (REVIEW)


Students Perform Earlier Compositions for Each Other
Organize Prescribed Movement that follows Balinese Order to accompany student's
compositions

Dance: Pendet and Janger

Week Eight (Performance WEEK)


Combine student compositions, dancing, and poetry into a program for PTA
